“More character and better food than most”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

We had only one night in Memphis and were most likely to go to the glitzier establishments nearby but decided to see what the Flying Fish had to offer. As visitors from the UK we were keen to try local dishes and visit places which were not just for tourists. We enjoyed the food and informal atmosphere at this restaurant as well as the value for money. The friendly welcome was shared by the other diners who guided us to the counter to order our choices. It was one of the best and one of the least expensive meals we had during our three week road trip. We very much liked the character of the place with the Liars' Wall and the Billy Bass adoption centre.

“catch and release that catfish..”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

The 2 piece catfist I had ordered for 2 consecutive nights (24/25August2012)were consistently over cooked. They were very dry and same with the fried oysters that went with the 25Aug order. The cook needs deep-frying 101 training. It was totally not a bad experience, both the chowder and shrimp met my expectation.

“if you like seafood....”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

this is the place for good, yet inexpensive seafood. My husband had crab legs that were very good and I had fish tacos..yum and my kids loved whatever they had..but my daughter especially liked the fried pie! with chocolate filling.... I think everythng is fried in Memphis! oh so good but bad for you....

“Not what I expected.”
Reviewed August 17, 2012 via mobile

Atmosphere is great. Lots to look at but the food experience was blah. We ordered the protein platter & shrimp. Boring, not much flavor to any of it. Sorry guys, you've got to amp it up.
