“Fantastic hotel with a great location”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

This is a great Hotel right in the middle of the downtown attractions - across the road from the FedEx Arena, and just a block south of Beale Street ! The rooms are large and spacious, with an enormous bathroom - and importantly even just one block from Beale Street they are quiet too should you want to try and sleep off the effects of the previous night on Beale Street ! The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and are always happy to help.

We were here over Labor Day weekend. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was great, just like a Westin should be. Great bed and bathroom. The location is so perfect for visiting Beale Street. Right around the corner from the heart of Beale Street and there is a Starbucks located just outside the hotel. Yay!

The Westin was a surprise to me (I have stayed at the Peabody in previous times). The decor is very pleasant and the staff very helpful and friendly. The rooms are of good size as well as the bathroom. Bathrooms have double head shower enclosed in transparent booth and separate from bathtub. You can get Internet access for a small daily fee ($6.95). This hotel has a quick valet parking system (vs. the Peabody which takes FOREVER to bring you the car). I can not comment on Blu (the hotel restaurant) as I did not have a meal there. Starbucks is just abounr the corner in the same building. Really convenient. Bar is OK - not nearly as busy as the Peabody. Our part had several mix-ups with the bar bills - overcharges, charge for ice, $4 charge for a fountain coke. You can get much cheaper options in close by restaurants or bars. The hotel rooms facing the Fedex Forum are really quiet. Noone can tell the hotel is so close from Beale Street. It is a shame that there is no swimming pool on premises. I think this is an excellent choice in downtown Memphis. Will stay here again.

Room Tip: Same rooms face Beale Street. Wed night is bike night. Ask for a room facing the FeDEX Forum for qui...

Very nice hotel in a great location but just realize this is a rock's throw from Beale Street which means if you have a room on Beale street side and your a light sleeper you will hear the music and people. If your going to the FedEx Forum which is across the street or out at night to have fun on Beale Street it is the perfect location. Can't use the fridge because filled with items that are weighted and you will be charged if you pick up any of the items longer than 30 seconds. Housekeeping still needs some work in leaving towels, washcloth and a bathmat but overall adequate.

We stayed here for a long weekend. Each and every member of the hotel staff we encountered was unfailingly polite and helpful. The Starbucks does require you to exit the hotel, and there were some panhandlers, but the police presence was there as well. The noise from Beale Street could be a distraction for those there to work, but the others in our party whose rooms DIDN'T face Beale Street had no noise issues.

We would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Don't overlook Beale Street if you're not a night owl. Ask at the desk.

This review is about the restaurant associated with the hotel. It is called "blue" and has beautiful decor but awful, highly overpriced food and very inexperienced staff. The pork loin was tough as nails and the portion was very small for the price. The prices for an entree ranged around $28 and that did not include butter and rolls or anything else. I would love to review it under restaurants, but so far no one has bothered and it is not listed. On top of the bad food, the table next to us had the manager sitting there "training" a new staff by having her sit and listen to him go on and on and on in a loud voice about customer satisfaction. He was totally oblivious to us, the customers, having to listed to him while we were trying to chew through our $28 pork loin entree.

The rooms were nice. I had to move rooms due to the visiting NBA team smoking marijuana in my room the night before leaving it smelling really bad. Location is great, but it can be a bit noisy at night...shower was the best part of the whole experience.
