This museum is really worth a visit! The whole exhibition was well-prepared and really enjoyable - there were some videos and interactive things as well, etc. My favourite part was the little room/exhibition about the cotton itself, where you can also grope real cotton with your hands :) I think it is fun for children, too.

“If you want history, check this out!”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

Not only is this museum well organized and educational, the building is worth seeing itself. It is a wonderful example of the architechure of the time. The cotton industry was such an important part of Memphis history, it deserves much more attention in the present time than it gets.
We really enjoyed the museum and the exhibits...right down to sitting in the chairs that were used originally and seeing the huge blackboard that posted the prices. I wish we could have spent more time there.

“A Trip into Memphis History”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

In a little over an hour one can hear the history of King Cotton. My grandfather worked for the Cotton Council for most of his career until retiring, and many former employees volunteer with this not-for-profit. To this day, many cotton related businesses rent spaces in the building, and the center includes a helpful guided walking tour of area cotton sites nearby.

“EXCELLANT, Well Worth a Visit”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

My wife and I enjoyed every aspect of The Cotton Museum. Their displays and videos present a very interesting and educational look inside of the Cotton Trade and the major role that Cotton played in the history and development of Memphis and of the Southern States. We are very thankful that we took the time to visit this great Museum. Plan on two hours for your visit. There is a $5.00 per day Parking Lot next door to the Museum or there is a Trolley Stop within walking distance of the Museum. If you are without Kids; The Local is a good place for Lunch, it is located a very short walk from the Museum. Ask for directions at the Museum’s desk. Enjoy

“Wish we had set aside more time to spend here”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

This building was one of the most interesting spots in Memphis that we visited. They do a really good job of not only educating you about cotton but also of showing how the exchange worked back in its heyday. There is just so much to see and learn about here, and unfortunately we didn't plan on the amount of time it would take to go through everything. Awesome place, definitely worth a visit.
