“Incredible Soul Food”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

There's nothing fancy about Four Way, but I can't help but give it an very good rating for the down home quality of their food and friendly service. A sign on the restaurant says that they are celebrating their 65th anniversary. The outside is nothing special, even a little intimidating with the wire screens on the windows, but go in and you get a friendly greeting. Pictures of friends and relatives on the wall give the somewhat minimal decor a friendly ambiance. The owner is a delightful woman who clearly enjoys pleasing her guests. For $7.49 you get an entree and two sides. Both our chicken-fried steak and salmon croquettes were done with an expert hand. Vegetables were outstanding, including the boiled okra, smothered cabbage, and mashed potatoes with gravy. We didn't do dessert, but I'm going back soon for more.

“The Best Meal We Had In Memphis”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

My family and I ate at the Four Way on 2/21/13 after stopping by the Stax Museum. The food was wonderful, and the service was prompt and friendly. Mr. Bates the owner stopped to visit for a minute or two as well. I had the salmon crochets, yams, and turnip greens. All were wonderful. My family has the fried chicken and said it was very good also. DON'T MISS THE STRAWBERRY CAKE! My 9 year old said it was the best meal he ever had and made me promise that we would return soon. Upon leaving our waitress gave us to go cups for all our drinks.

“Great soul food lunch!”
Reviewed February 23, 2013 via mobile

This is old-fashioned soul food at a locally famous establishment. Four Way was recommended by the staff at Stax (which was a lot of fun, by the way). I had fried chicken with corn and mashed potato, all of which were fresh and tasty. Service was friendly.

“Don't judge a book by its cover.”
Reviewed January 12, 2013 via mobile

We read reviews and were interested in this restaurant. We pulled up on a Friday night around 6, and there was no one in the restaurant and the neighborhood appeared a bit sketchy. However, the owner ushered us in and welcomed us. We decided to stay and were glad we did. Our server was very kind and accommodating. Although they closed at 7pm they didn't mind we stayed until 730. The fried chicken and catfish were delicious as well as all the sides we tried. We also had a dessert and our bill was only $20. There is a lot of history within the restaurant and it was neat to eat there.
