I love this place when I'm craving comfort food, or just realize I want something without a 'mc' in front of it or served in paper or cardboard. Also, I love to sneak in during 'off-peak' hours for a chill hour with good home-cooked food and a magazine.

On a recent trip to Memphis, we ate here mainly because the family I had in the area recommended it. The four of us had the dinner plates--meat and three vegetables.

Chicken strips--bland but okay
2 country fried steaks--one thought mediocre, one thought pretty good
spaghetti--not very good at all

veggies--brown gravy was too salty, but white gravy was better, fried green tomatoes were greasy and limp, potatoes were bland, greens were too strong, salad had wilted brown lettuce, fries were good, corn pudding was the best thing on the plate

Overall, in a group of 4, there were very mixed reviews not only from person to person, but within the items on each plate

I think we might try somewhere else the next time we are in the mood for a comfort food type meal.

The price for this modest fare was a pit on the pricey side for what it was.

Very mediocre pie. We had read that The Cupboard had great pie. This is not the case. The chocolate cream and coconut cream pies that we tried were both very ordinary.

The staff is great, very friendly, but I cannot recommend the desserts.

Not bad just average home cooking, good if you go regular and know what to order.
