Description: Established in 2002. "Look Good. Eat Good." are the words emblazoned on the front windows at the Beauty Shop. This hip and trendy restaurant in the Cooper-Young district of midtown Memphis does both, as it conjures up images of a '50s-style beauty shop, formerly Priscilla Presley's curl-and-dye spot. It's a camp wonderland where the façade is Jetsons-era Vitrolite, and choice seating is offered beneath hooded Belvedere hair dryers. Nostalgia is served with a sense of humor here. The beauty shop flashback comes complete with original mint green wash basins filling in as sinks behind the hand built bar, made of tiger maple wood. The terrazzo floor is original. Glass brick stalls serve as intimate booths. Mixed with the retro renderings are modern touches such as hand-blown art-glass lights, and glamorous copper and silver-leaf walls. At this offbeat restaurant, the décor pays homage to the space's beauty parlor past, while the food offers flavors from around the globe.

Start with the reasonably priced cocktails, try the Gravlax appi with it's beautiful presentation. The encrusted sea bass came with corn on the cob smothered in aioli - so delightful. Great atmosphere and fabulous food.

“Super Cool Super Brunch!”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

Mrs. Presley used to get her hair done here, but I get my brunch done here. The most delicious Bloody Mary's & Mimosas in town. Yummy brunch items that you woon't find elsewhere!! Fun decor, great staff and excellent place to run into your local friends. I have been slightly disappointed in their dinner menu since the options are not all that vast - what they have is lovely though I've also had some very oversalted something now and again. Go for Brunch instead - it's beautiful.

“So original”

Food portions aren't large (for once in Memphis), but the quality and unique tastes are so worth it. This place is a favorite!

“Great breakfast in an old renovated beauty shop”
Reviewed May 15, 2012

We ate breakfast here twice. The food was excellent as was the service. I would have given the restaurant five stars, but we had a problem both times with our reservations. The place was always mobbed so I could understand, but they might want to modernize their reservation system verses "chicken stratch" on a bunch of papers. Very unique atmosphere and would recommend..be prepared to wait especially for their Sunday Brunch..but it is worth it

“Great Brunch”
Reviewed May 14, 2012

We were there on mother's day unexpectedly and they made room for us in the sushi place next door. The eggs benedict with shrimp was excellent as was the french toast. Wish we had been in town longer to be able to return.
