Decided to try lavoros again after a long hiatus. Same old place with a few new faces. Got lucky and cought the ribeye steak sandwich on special for $8.75. This thing is spectacular! Large strips of perfectly cooked ribeye on your choice of panini or hoggi bun. Absolutely lOved it. Not to crazy about the home made potato chips... I'd recommend spending the extra $1.50 and going with the fries.

We have lived in Memphis for the past three years and this is the best Italian, at a great price, that we have found so far! We are from St. Louis and "The Hill" has GREAT authentic Italian restaurants and Memphis has disappointed thus far until tonight! The breaded mozzarella is wonderful, the portabella mushroom ravioli was superb, the eggplant parm was fresh, and the fettuccine alfredo rich and flavorful! We will be back tomorrow!

We were travelling through Memphis in March and desperately wanted to find some place for dinner that both wasn't another chain restaurant and was close to our hotel. A quick on line search brought us to Lavoro's. It is in a converted KFC with not a lot of curb appeal and offers Italian take out and restaurant service in a trattoria style setting. The outside patio in good weather has a real Italian feel and flavor all of its own. The owner's wife and father handled the table service plus other duties.. The lady had visited Italy several times and brought back some real Italian recipes, some of which are offered as tasty daily specials. Fortunately one of those when we arrived was a white lasagna which was excellent.

There are plenty of traditional Italian dishes such as pastas, pizza and paninis.but it's the daily specials that make this place worth a visit. Prices are very reasonable, quantities were generous and the tastes were terrific. Herbs are grown on location so everything is fresh and the breads and deserts (the bread pudding was fabulous) are made in house by Dad (Coach). "Italian" spinach is offered as a side but while delicious is not rapini.

We are from Toronto and will not have the opportunity to make regular visits like those fortunate enough to live close by but we would definitely come back. We also hope to see the "Coach" return to Canada in the near future to resume his football career.
