“I'm not as Hip as the clinentle....”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

Yes, a trendy spot. All the hipster there. That aside, inspired food and menu. Great attention to detail. Basicly a tapas style menu of upscale/re imagined southern food. best dish is quail. flavors are old school but kicked up. Corn meal pound cake is a real example.

“Good drinks and food in Cooper Young”

Great midtown location. They have a nice weekend brunch. They could use an additional bartender at happy hour though.

“Crafted cocktails!”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

We stopped in for drinks before dinner in the area, and had a good time sampling the cocktails. They had a great reposado drink; the bartender let us sample the mezcal - went and bought a bottle the next day. Good service, great bar.

“Much more than a cocktail lounge”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

Finally had the opportunity to try Alchemy this past weekend. We've heard so much about it, but were told by friends that it was impossible to get a seat on the weekend. We planned to have drinks before dinner at nearby 1912 where we had dined many times over the years. We called ahead to see what the parking was like and how crowded the bar was. The lady on the phone was most helpful and suggested that we take advantage of valet if we didn't find street parking. She also took our names and said that if the restaurant was full, we would already be on the list for seating. We arrived about an hour later and were lucky enough to find street parking. Though the bar was full, the hostess had us seated near the window within minutes. We ordered drinks from the extensive cocktail menu. Some really fun options and we all tried something different. After looking over the dinner menu and talking to our server we decided to stay at Alchemy for dinner. We split appetizers then ordered entrees and shared side items. Everything was wonderful but my personal favorites were the Brussels sprouts and the Sea Scallops. Everyone raved about the fish tacos. Our server was very helpful and informative, especially when we were trying to decide between all of the fun cocktails. Even the managers and hostess checked on us during our meal. So we went for drinks and stayed for dinner. One of the best experiences we've had in Memphis in a while. We will be back - hopefully soon to try their brunch. When you go - make sure to try the Dancing Jimmy's Secret made with fresh grapes and lime, completely original and refreshing.
