We chose this hotel for it's location. It was right off the highway and easy to get to. Several dining options are across the freeway. We stayed one night. Upon check in, the front desk person was very polite and informative. Our rooms, one king and one with two queens, were huge! Especially the king. They gave us adjoining rooms which was nice since I didn't think to request them. The rooms were clean, the bathrooms spotless. The towels appeared new and were thick and nice. The beds were firm and comfortable. Each room had a fridge, coffeemaker and microwave. The pool was HOT like a giant bathtub. We didn't swim, we just soaked. The whirlpool was cool, but felt good after the hot pool. The breakfast was above average along with the usual selections were waffles, sausage, bacon, potatoes, eggs, but the scrambled eggs were a little unusual. Check out was fairly quick. All in all, I would stay here again if I was in the area. We had reservations and they even emailed a reminder confirmation two days before. Very nice!

We stayed at the LaQuinta Memphis/Sycamore View for one night in May 2006. We were very thankful it was for one night only. While the drive-up appeal of the hotel is inviting and nice-looking once you get to your room that disappears. Nothing seemed clean in the room - the sheets were wrinkly and rather worn. We wondered if someone had not already slept in them and were terribly concerned about bedbugs all night. There was a lipstick mark on the full-length mirror around the height a child might be and would have kissed the mirror. The towels did not smell fresh at all - kind of stinky actually so that you didn't even feel fresh after showering. We have always liked staying at LaQuinta's and I think this was just one bad experience so we will try others but avoid this one in the future. They did offer a free cont. breakfast that was decent.

Black Schmutz on the towels (visible in plain sight, no less). Several long black hairs on the bathroom floor. I didn't dare look inside the shower - much less take one.

Unfortunately, other area hotels didn't look any more promising.

The local family-friendly area (chain) restaurants weren't that great, either. All allow smoking and a few do not serve alcohol. (Great. Shield the little kiddies from alcohol and expose them to cancer, instead.)

If you have no reason to stay in Memphis and are just driving through via route 40 - keep driving and drive fast. Take No-Doz, drink coffee. Just keep driving and don't stop until you reach Nashville. Around ext 238 (I believe) you should see some halfway decent overnight digs.

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times. We travel to Memphis a couple of times a year to see his son. His son is 10 and loves to swim. We chose this hotel because of its indoor pool. Everything was nice. Clean rooms, helpful staff, and a breakfast that even an extremely picky 10 year old will eat. Our only complaints were with the tv in the hotel room and the temperature of the swimming pool. We used the hot tub thermometer to test the temperature of the swimming pool and it was 70 degrees. When we were there for Easter visiting my husand's son, the water was frigid then too. He loves to swim though and he went in and swam, blue lipped and shivering. A heated pool is usually about 78 degrees, but more around 80. The hot tub was wonderful. As for the TV in our room, it lacked a placed to connect my stepson's X-BOX. So we had to go out and buy a TV so he could play his video games. Other than those two things our stay was very pleasant and the staff was always nice and helpful.
