This was the perfect hotel for the family! We paid extra for the balcony and it was well worth it! A beautiful view of the court yard at night, while the kids slept. Perfect location for the trolley, although we mostly walked everywhere. Very safe area. Hotel employees were friendly and always smiling! Beautifully decorated lobby and rooms!

Room Tip: If you have kids, get the balcony to sit on while they are sleeping! Photo is a view from the balcony.

We were in Memphis for a bridge tournament and wanted someplace centrally located and this was our choice.

We checked the reviews before booking and were quite satisfied with our stay. Those reviewers who called it a dump are dead wrong and are probably the kind of people who are who are never satisfied, no matter what. Those reviewers who thought it the next best thing to sliced bread probably have not travelled much.

The hotel is centrally located, relatively newly furnished, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We were, however, surprised that for a "suite" type hotel, there were no dishes, wine glasses, cutlery or anything to facilitate a light en suite lunch or even a take out meal.

The complimentary breakfasts were good and plentiful (toast, bagels, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits, waffles, oatmeal, cereals, fresh fruit, juice and coffee).

The parking was just kitty corner at the parking lot in front of the Sleep Inn, next door. You can drive there yourself or get a valet to do it for you. The cost is the same.

Our car was there for four days & nights and we didn't fear for it. Nor did we ever feel the slightest bit uneasy in downtown Memphis. The police presence is palpable and any thug would be taking his/her life in her hands to try to accost a visitor.

Beale Street was a few block walk away for pretty good food at almost any place on the street. Ditto for Huey's for superb hamburgers and excellent beer.

All in all, not one of the world's great hotels, but certainly a good place to stay.

Room Tip: We asked for - and got - a quiet room in the Kress building part of the hotel. The up side was the peace and quiet. The down side was that it was dark and faced on to the back wall of a nearby building. If I had it to do again, I would ask for a room facing the street so that I could watch the streetcars go by. The streetcars are one of Memphis's unadvertised attractions - for me, at least!

As with most of the reviews, I can only agree. The location is great, the customer service was outstanding, the room was modern and clean, well-appointed. Everyone from the valet parking to front desk to housekeeping was friendly and helpful. We have visited Memphis before but never stayed right in the downtown area, and this location was perfect. Will definitely stay here again.

hotel is in a great location. Main street trolley stops right out front. walk to Beale Street, great restaurants. Rooms could use some updating, but overall comfortable, quiet. Good breakfast.

We stayed at this hotel in March over Spring Break with my son, his friend and my husband and myself. When we received our room we were surprised to see that the sleeper sofa was only a single because the room we secured online specifically noted two queen beds and a queen sleeper sofa. We went back down to the front desk and they were very helpful in securing us a room with a queen sleeper sofa and a balcony which faced Main St. where the trolley runs. This was a nice surprise and the boys enjoyed sitting on the balcony and people watching. There's a nice park behind the hotel too and as stated in other reviews, most of downtown is within walking distance; The Peabody Hotel, FedEx Forum, Redbird Stadium and Beale St. The downtown area is very clean and feels quaint, like a small town. Complimentary breakfast was always filling, with a large variety of items from biscuits and gravy, eggs, bagels, danish and fruit. We never left the hotel hungry after breakfast. The room was very nicely appointed with two flat screen TV's, comfortable beds and housekeeping always seemed to clean the room quickly in the morning after we left. To the not so positive reveiw of valet...the night we checked in they said we needed to valet because self-park was full. No problem. The next day when we picked up the car we saw a dime sized chunk of paint had been chipped from the door with a ding to match. This wasn't there prior to leaving the vehicle with valet. We've only had the car a month and I was pretty upset. We talked to the valet attendent and he assured us that the company's insurance would cover the cost of repairs if it was their fault. We didn't buy the car with the ding and that's the first day it appeared, conspicuously, after being left at valet. We obtained estimates when we returned home last week and are still awaiting a call from their claims department in response to our estimates submitted. So, overall, loved the hotel but have not had a good experience with their valet to date. It would be nice to at least receive a call back of some sort. If you stay here, I would do self-park, if available. Would highly recommend the hotel itself based on proximity to dowtown and an overall enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side off of Main St. have balconies and overlook the park.
