We reserved a jr. suite for our honeymooon and it was perfect! We had breakfast every morning at Eighty3 and it was delicious every time. The staff was very friendly and helpful no matter what time of day we were looking for something. We will stay here again for sure!

My wife and I, and another couple stayed at the Madison in Memphis for both of our 25 wedding anniversaries on the weekend of Sept. 27, 2013. Our experience at the Madison was exceptional in all areas. The check in agent "Kellie" was the best! she made us feel as if we were old friends. Her attention to us and our needs were superb. What a fun and memorable time we had! Thanks to everyone, and especially Kellie for making this landmark event in our marriage special! Dave and Angie (Saint Louis, MO)

I have been traveling to Memphis several times this year on business, and have stayed in my fair share of hotels. The Madison is by far the best. The rooms are spacious, the bed wonderfully soft and pillowy, and there are lots of little treats in the rooms: inexpensive snacks, plush robe, nice toiletries. The hotel itself has a heated lap pool, a gym, and a beautiful roof deck overlooking the Mississippi. The restaurant has good food - more than just burgers, chicken, and pasta. Best of all, though, is the service. They take care of you the way you would expect at a 5-star hotel. The location is great too, close to the water so you have a view, but downtown and close to all the attractions. This will always be my go-to place in Memphis.

We spent a few days in Memphis, sort of a random thing We chose the Madison from the location and because my company has a good corporate rate there.

The valet (Jim) was terrific from the initial greeting through our departure, and the rest of the staff was great as well. The lobby is well appointed. This is a fairly new hotel (2001, I recall) but the building itself is quite old having been a bank and office building before. The result is an interesting counterpoint to the Peabody's grandeur and thoroughly charming. Where as the Doubletree greets you with warm cookies, here it's cut fruit, cheese, crackers and mimosas.

Then there were the room(s). The day we checked in was relatively cool, so we didn't discover the malfunctioning air conditioner until later that night. The radio alarm wasn't working, because the electrical socket didn't work. We also had some issues with the TV. None of that kept us from sleeping there the first night, though. As far as the room itself, it was a little small (not bad, though), but there was very limited drawer space. This may have been a design decision given the stylish furniture. The ceiling was very high which have a feeling of spaciousness. The bath has a separate tub and shower and has floors, walls of travertine (I think, very nice regardless).

The next day, we reported the problems and BAM! We were moved down the hall to a two room suite. What a difference. In addition to the extra room (and very effective A/C), there was much more drawer and closet space. Corner location and several windows created a light and airy feel...no extra charge.

We really enjoyed the outdoor rooftop bar. It has a nice view west over the Mississippi and into the sunset. Furnishings were comfortable and the wait staff attentive. Prices are reasonable. there also is a nice restaurant on the lobby level, but we did not eat there.

The workout center is unique. There are some weights and cardio, but it's not extensive. However, is inside the old bank vault. The ceiling is cut out (so we're told) to accommodate the basketball players that like to stay there when in town. Regardless, it is cool looking. There is a lap pool on the same level.

Valet parking is available, but the location is a few blocks away, so best to call ahead. The river and running paths are very close as is the town square. If you like to walk, Beale Street, the Majestic theater, the Peabody and the Lorraine Hotel are easy walks (half mile to Beale). There is an electric trolley that makes a downtown circuit as well, so there is little need for a car in that area.

We did take a number of car trips farther out, and Jim was an encyclopedia of best routes, times, and local restaurants. The staff in general knows the area well and never steered us wrong.

Room Tip: As an older building, the huge windows do let in some street noise including early morning dumpster...

This was our first stay in Memphis and what a nice hotel The Madison was. The view was wonderful from the rooftop bar. The appetizers were quite tasty also. All the staff, including the doorman on night two (who was not present when we arrived) call us by name, very impressive. Our breakfast at the hotel was also quite delicious. The rooms are very comfortable and the bathrooms are quite spacious. We will definitely stay there again.

This was my 2nd time staying at the Madison while on business. Clearly the first stay was great, prompting me to make it my choice for my 2nd visit. Everything was handled perfectly from the moment you pull up to the curb (friendly service, and giving me helpful alternate parking reccos), to the front desk, to the restaurant/bar, to room service requests and advice about where to eat.

The rooms are well done, modern and clean, and quiet which is huge for me. I'd rather have mediocre decor but a comfy quiet room for working and sleeping (I don't stare at the decor after all).

Location is great for my needs, as I could jump right onto the highway for my drive to business meetings, or an easy walk to Beale St. for some blues and booze...or you can opt for the $1 trolly, but you'd get there faster by walking (and really, after eating bbq and drinking, we could use a good brisk walk).

Thanks guys, can't wait till my next trip.

We were on a sisters road trip, and never visited Memphis before. We were at the Madison for 2 nights. Every member of the staff was genuinely pleasant and accommodating. The location was near some great restaurants, Beale Street was close enough (but not too close, which was good), hotel had a great restaurant and the roof-top bar should not be missed. The room had a lot to be desired however. It could have been a little cleaner. It was pretty dusty and housekeeping forgot to pick up used towels although the room was made up. Couldn't regulate the room temperature easily and up often during the night to try and fix it (was way too hot). The safe didn't work although they did spend 2-3 hours fixing it. It was just a good thing we didn't spend much time in the room. Sad to give it a "not so good" review because the staff and hotel itself and restaurant was great...it was just the room.
