We usually stay at the Peabody when in Memphis. This time we stayed here instead. Very different feel. Modern. A nice boutique hotel. Very close to the trolley line and walking distance to the river.
Staff were all very friendly and helpful.
One of the minuses was that we originally were assigned to a handicapped accessible room. Nice room but had an open shower design (no door so a wheelchair could roll in) Taking a shower was a cold experience. Not sure why but water in that shower never got warmer than tepid. Water in sink was hotter. Asked engineering who thought all showers through out hotel had same temp of water. Not true. Spent last night in a regular room where I had a lovely hot shower.
Hotel has Nice gym and pool in basement. Is in process of opening up a rooftop bar, looks like it will be nice.
Food was decent, though kitchen seemed disorganized. In a virtually empty restaurant, our breakfast took forever to be served. Be prepared to wait or have your breakfast somewhere else.

Room Tip: avoid the handicapped room if you don't need if you like a hot shower

Room was very nice in this hotel. We had 2 double beds and they were very comfortable in quiet, tasteful room. Had mini refrigerator, bottles of wine & snacks offered (for a price), flat screen TV, big thick towels, and charging dock with internet connections. Bathroom and room were both spacious. It all looks very new for what looks like an historic hotel. Staff at the front desk were very helpful and offered suggestions on what to do & where to eat in area. One block from trolley. A few blocks to Beale street, but walkable. We encountered a couple of homeless people asking for money on the way there, so took different route back to hotel. There is a roof top terrace but it was being remodeled when we were there. Lobby is small and entrance to hotel is not very big. Best to valet park here ($25 fee) and couldn't get out of $10 voucher to eat next door at restaurant so had breakfast there. It's a small bar/restaurant and food and service were very good. Got a good price on Hotwire, but to spend regular rates here -- room may be worth it but other hotel extras aren't there for that kind of price and with extra restaurant charge and valet parking, it adds up. Liked this hotel a lot but just be ready for some extra charges.

We checked in late on a Wednesday night. School was in session so we expected a quiet night. Not so. The halls were noisy and the people who were staying there were not business people like we expect on a week night. The staff was great very nice. There were no ice machines so you had to call for ice and tip. There was no extra toilet paper so you had to call and tip for that. There was a spare pillow but no blanket and it got cold in the room. We ususally stay at the Peabody when we can but it has had a problem with the lobby being SO full of tourists that we thought we would try a quieter boutique hotel. Memphis being Memphis you expect some partiers but not in an expensive hotel on a week night.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors and NOT next to or accross from the elevator. Noise under the doors is a problem.

Thank you for your response. Although we are a boutique hotel, we are impacted by large conventions and guests traveling to the downtown area for both weekday and weekend events and we understand this did not meet your expectation. It is our hope that you will be able to experience us at another time when the downtown area is not at high capacity. Thanks for staying with us and we look forward to your return visit.

Spent two nights at the Madison and wished it could have been longer. It is the kind of hotel you hope to find in any city you travel to. Elegant and welcoming. Staffed with employees who obviously love their jobs and care about customer service. The valet and doormen were very attentive and accommodating. The check-in was smooth and provided maps that we used extensively. The concierge was very helpful with local history. Loved the room which was beautifully decorated--a large, comfortable King bed and a large bathroom with separate shower and deep tub. The view from the rooftop deck is not to be missed. Unfortunately, it was being renovated during our visit so the bar was not open but what a view. Had drinks in Eighty3 and the bartendar was very personable and engaging. The bar was full both times we were there so she was quite busy. Would recommend this hotel to any of my friends going to Memphis.

This is a place that is nice for a couple or single person. Very nice hotel in great location downtown, nice bar and lobby. Walking distance to The Peabody, Beale Street and the river front. Many downtown restaurants can be reached on foot or by trolley. We had breakfast in bed which was lovely, coffee is in the room with a nice mini bar. Very comfy bed, nice views. They are currently renovating a high outside space that promises to be a nice a nice place to watch the sunset, have a drink and to hear some music and relax. All in all, we enjoyed our visit.
