No. This hotel isn't the newest. And no it isn't the nicest. However I definitely think its underrated. I have stayed at this hotel on 4 different occasions and I will continue to stay at this property. It's only a few blocks from Beale St and FedEx Forum. The staff has always been nice however for this stay I found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. It's as though they loved their jobs and enjoyed what they are doing. I always felt safe and secure. Especially since this was a girls weekend getaway.

I have to say if you want a hotel near to downtown and don't want to pay big bucks this does the job, as someone said earlier, if you are going to be picky then you will be disappointed.

Literally it was a case of checking in and parking the car ($10 a night) and not speaking to the front desk again, funny set up, front desk on ground floor and all the rooms on 8th 9th and 10th with parking garage in between. I found no security issues

Rooms seemed clean and the pool was ok as well, breakfast usual fare although as I have said in countless reviews all I look for is a cup of coffee etc so I don't expect much more than that

Location. You cant get much better, Beale Street is a safe four block walk and no more than 5-7 mins away.

You get what you pay for and this delivers on that level for those on a budget

DO NOT STAY HERE! It is terrible, from staff to accommodations...Booked it for a trainer coming to do a training seminar in our office. Asked if it had been recently remodeled to which the ignorant person replied "yes" - complete and total fabrication. Asked for non smoking - got smoking (complete with burn holes and stench!) Took 25 minutes to make the reservation!! AND STILL GOT IT WRONG! The poor trainer had to go find another hotel...

This hotel was inexpensive and that is what you are going to get for the money. It is close to Beale street, about four blocks. The rooms are on the 8th to 10th floors. Our room was clean enough and large. If you are real picky do you won't like this place. The parking garage is from street level to the 7th floor. I wouldn't park much higher than the 3rd floor though. It was safe walking around at night, we walked both nights back from Beale street to this hotel. In the summer Wednesday night is bike night on Beale street and it's great. The pool was located on the 8th floor courtyard and we enjoyed it. The breakfast room was not what we are use to. It is on the 9th floor and it looks like a make shift eating area. There was cereal, bagels, juice, coffee and tea. This hotel is only two blocks from the Peabody Hotel, one of the finest hotels in the south. The Peabody is a must do. This is where the ducks waddle from the roof down the elevator along a red carpet into the fountain in the lobby at 11am and back again at 5pm. Grab a table in the lobby early, order a drink and enjoy the show. You'll notice a big difference from the Peabody to the Econo, but you get what you pay for.

1. Dont come if you are expecting a hotel /comfort this is definately a hostel like accommodation
2. Stinks of smoke, all carpets need to be ripped up and burnt
3. Rooms are dirty
4. Bed linen is dirty
5. security is poor , anyone can access the lifts.
NOT for families.
+ is it is cheap. You get what you pay for ... in hindsight I would have spent the extra $80 bucks and book another hotel

As there were no hostels in the Beale St area I was looking for budget accommodation. This hotel was a great rate, the room was large and clean and only a short walk to Beale Street. I arrived early in the morning after a 13 hour overnight bus ride and the staff very kindly checked me into a room. The hotel is quiet and safe.

Very close to Beale Street and two blocks away from Autozone Park. Very handy for Memphis Redbirds games.

The rooms are basic but clean with ice machines and vending available on every floor.

Nice size pool in the middle of the quad and was open quite late which was nice after a muggy day.

You really can't get better for the money we paid. And free wifi is available in all the rooms. That was a bonus being an international traveller.

There's free breakfast too. Nice touch.
