The Elegant Farmer is a lovely restaurant - small, cozy, friendly staff, and relaxed atmosphere. The food here is great - fresh flavors, creative uses of novel ingredients, and the portion sizes are not over-the-top (as is typical in Memphis).

The food and freshness of the ingredients are the biggest pros. Simply well done, excellent food that tastes good and that reminds us of the simple, high quality meals we had in France. They cut no corners here, and the staff is excellent. The only drawback is the owner. He's welcoming yet goes out of his way to be a bit arrogant. Perhaps it's just his personality, but a little of him goes a long way. It seems if you're dressed up on a Sunday, he assumes you went to church, and we do, so he kicks it up a bit just to be obnoxious, which is the definition of being inhospitable. Just my opinion, and I could be misinterpreting his personality. By all means, try this place if you haven't.

My wife and visited The Elegant Farmer for lunch and enjoyed a delicious meal. All of the ingredients were fresh, flavorful and well-prepared. The pecan butter sandwich was served on freshly made bread was delicious. The thinly sliced sweet potato chips were crispy and maintained a distinct sweet potato flavor. Since it was winter, the restaurant served spaghetti squash with a slightly smokey marinara sauce. It was perfectly prepared and quite tasty. The salad included a buttermilk ranch that was light and complimentary to the other ingredients. Desserts were all made from scratch. The carrot cake was moist and tasty. Service was attentive and professional.

We are looking forward to our next visit to this excellent restaurant!

My fiancé and I were traveling across the country from San Jose, CA to Virginia Beach, VA. This was the best food we had. The pan seared catfish and braised greens were amazing. The sloppy joe was one of a kind. Highly recommend the place.

The Elegant Farmer is one of the best little restaurants in the city. Quaint atmosphere, excellent service and the most awesome food. My wife and I have been going at least twice a week since they opened and have never been disappointed. Someone complained about the noise. Well, we go close to opening time to avoid too much noise. Everything there is so delicious it would be a sin to let the noise from a roomful of happy diners deter you from dining there.
We've had everything on the menu now except for the PB&J. Everything is incredible! Mac and his crew are great and always take excellent care of us. Do NOT forget to have dessert!

P.S. I NEVER liked greens growing up and always avoided them like the plague. Not anymore. I don't know what they do to them but they are the best-tasting vegetable in the world! Get some and see.
