“Great food”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

We were staying one night just round the corner of Beale Street and wanted something tasty to eat. We stumbled upon Johnny G's with a gentleman outside with a sample menu to browse. Easily enticed in by the variety of food we ate Voodoo chicken (the waitress warned us it would be hot/spicy but it wasn't that bad - have had hotter curries back home!) and the pulled pork which was outstanding. The BBQ sauce on it was divine. Came with slaw and potato salad. They don't do fries in this place but we didn't need extra sides as plenty big enough for our appetites - remember everything there is bigger so don't over order!
Returned next day to collect a selection of tasters for lunch. Tried cup sizes of gumbo, crayfish and jambalaya. Had them to go and sat in the sun with a beer enjoying atmosphere. Again plenty to eat for the two of us.
Give it a try it was great and bonus was it was pretty quiet whilst we were there so not too noisy or busy.

“A liitle dive in Memphis with good food.”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

Food was actually quite good. In the heart of the Beale Streeet action. Fast service. Iced tea a bit funky bit so what. Nice to eat something beside BBQ. Will visit here again.

“Best barbecue nachos I have ever had!”
Reviewed September 19, 2012

We were directed here as we wanted to try catfish and the staff at another venue recommened Johnny G's. Great value for money. The service was very good and the server answered all our questions patiently. We had the memphis barbecue nachos which now means other nachos will never be the same. We tried the Kingfish platter. The food was cooked perfectly. Catfish was nice but I could take it or leave it, just my personal taste. The shrimp and crawfish were lovely. We did not have room for the deep fried chocolate coated strawberries but they looked wonderful. Cokes were refilled without us having to ask. Would recommend to anyone.

“Awesome!”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

I know we were hungry! But this was the best meal we had on Beale St. There was 4 of us and all had someting different. Waiter was great and the chef did say his beignets were better than Cafe Du Monde, but I do have to disagree, they were good but not as good as theirs! We had a great meal and a great memory of our trip to Memphis.
