Back in the day when it was actually an arena, it was truly something else. It was just as cool as saying that I went to the Arch in St. Louis.

nothing's ever going on there. It's just a pyramid that out tax dollars were wasted on.

We keep hearing that Bass Pro Shop is going to take over the Pyramid. From the begining this building set barely used. Memphis was taken to the bank on this one for sure. The officials don't like to talk about this building starting off on the wrong footing. There is no seismic hardware in the foundation of this building even though it was in code at the time. Right after the concrete was poured the discovery was made but the decision was to go head on into placing a huge building in an earthquake zone without this hardware. If Memphis had better leadership this would not have happened. I know we went to only a couple of events there due to the sardine seating. The basketball teams hated it, feuded with the city and after the completion of the Fed/Ex Forum we'd all rather go there even though there is no parking. It was a great idea without the right people to see it accomplished. Yep, we have some real smart people in this three state area but there are some really stupid ones too and they run the place. Another example of wasted money not to mention all that wasted real estate. A building this size with it's own parking lot is rare in most cities. The last big flood we had the parking lot was under water. What Bass Pro Shop plans to do about the missing hardware is a mystery. After talking about it for so long it might be all talk. Who knows? This is Memphis. The leaders of which (beleive this?) never heard of Bass Pro Shop and had to be wined, dined and given a trip to look over one of the large stores before they would look at any offer being made on this stupid Pyramid. You'd think ANYONE willing to take it off the back of the local citizens would be welcomed! The Mississippi wouldn't flow a foot before I'd be trying to transfer that debt and title. They'd have come out ahead if years ago they'd just paid someone to take it. At this time it is a terrible waste, terrible disgrace and terrible place to visit.
