I go every weekend but I knew it was something special when my out of town friends plan their visit by the schedule. There is free pet sitting, bike ride meet up, some sort of kid activity & at least one local artist playing great music. This is a great place to chill, mingle w/ the locals & buy local products to take home. I've also bought a couple cd's of the artists as gifts. It is located behind the the Central Station. Free car, bike parking but you can also get there by the Main St. or Riverfront Trolleys or the MATA bus. Get there early & then stroll to the histroric Arcade for breakfast.

Located in Downtown Memphis, adjacent to the South Main Arts District, this market is the place to be on Saturday mornings (actually 7a-1p), late April through October. Vendors come from Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee to sell flowers, vegetables, meats, cheeses, plants, crafts, breads, desserts, and more. Activities include cooking demos by area chefs, crafts for kids, and great music by local musicians. There is a Market Cafe with a great selection of pastries and delicious coffee. There is plenty of free parking (or you could take the Main Street trolley to the G.E. Patterson stop) and the prices at the market are excellent. Pet-sitting is even available. It's a fabulous place to spend some time on a Saturday morning, even if you're not planning to cook during your trip to Memphis!
