The atmosphere was great but we hardly slept because our room was by the elevator and it was very noisy all night long. We told them at the desk when we checked out. They apologized and gave us a voucher for one free night within the year, which was nice...however we live too far away and never had time to use it. I will never forget not sleeping at the Peabody!

My husband and I made a spontaneous trip to Memphis on New Year's day! We had an absolute blast on Beale. We decided to book the Peabody for the first night to have the 'experience' of staying in this famous hotel. The rates for the cheapest room were $280/night and after taxes and parking we were close to $400. The room service is also waaay overpriced! Breakfast for two (eggs, toast, coffee, and hashbrowns) was $50. And it wasn't as good as a continental at a cheap hotel.
Bottom line - the rooms are fine, clean, comfortable - nothing wrong with the hotel by any means. However, we stayed at the Sleep Inn 5 or 6 blocks down the road and it was only $120/night, and the rooms were modern, flat screens, nice bathroom, and friendly staff.
We didn't even get to see the 'ducks' the two times we tried because everyone from the streets comes in and it gets so crowded. Unless you sit there for an hour and a half before the time they're supposed to 'walk', you will not have the opportunity to see them.
I'm glad we stayed once, just to say we did, but I would never stay here again. For the price, it's absolutley not worth it, and there's plenty of hotels just as close to Beale that are half the price and just as nice.

We stayed at the famous Peabody in late December 2008. On arrival we were treated great , The loby of the hotel is outstanding. It was fully decorated as you would expect for the festive period. Webooked a club room for the extra comfort and aminities, however, after experiencing the club floor at the Peninsular and the Four Seasons we were a little disapointed to say the least with the club floor experience. Our club room was a big size and everything was clean and as you would expect. It was the actual choice of food and drinks in the club lounge that didnt impress at all.
We loved the service , and the friendlyness of the attendants in the club area, but to be honest it was not worth the extra money.
Loved the hotel & the ducks, and to be honest if we ever returned to Memphis it is in my opinion the only place to stay, but I would definatly not spend the extra on a club room at this hotel.

The Peabody Hotel in Memphis is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in.

The lobby is exquisite with fresh flowers and a twice daily live duck parade complete with a duck master and music. It is so much fun to see the ducks and everyone having a good time.

The staff was outstanding - the service wonderful - and obvious care and personal pride in doing a good job.

The rooms are large and have high count linen sheets and nice extra ammenities. The room was very clean and provided a relaxing atmosphere.

The location is in the center of activities - walking to Beale Street,
the river and shopping.

If you want to treat yourself to a good time I suggest The Peabody in Memphis.
