This is a very nice upscale hotel. The lobby is beautiful and has great energy. The rooms are nice, but the bathrooms could use some modernization. The rooftop is a great place to hang out, especially at night. Oh... And the ducks are as cool as everyone says. My only complaint is that you hear a lot of road noise from some rooms.

Dear Famtravel8,

Thank you for visiting The Peabody last summer. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay and were able to spend time in our Grand Lobby and on the Rooftop. Since your visit, we have started renovating our guestrooms and will complete the restoration this summer. Besides room décor and bathroom renovations, each room is being fitted with new sound-reducing windows and doors to reduce outside noise. I hope that you visit the “South’s Grand Hotel” again soon.

Kind regards,
Scott Boucher

This is a historical hotel with lots of charm! The famous ducks come out, walk the red carpet and sit in their fountain....kids will love this. The location is great for walking around downtown Memphis or going to Bealle Street. It is also across the street from the Red Birds stadium. Great restaurants and bars both in the hotel and surrounding area. A must see for Memphis!

Hotel : fantastic, old, classic place. Lovely lobby, busy place with great atmosphere. Room was great, had a bit of an issue with them trying to palm a 2-sinles room on us instead of a double, but we had it in print. Room was very stuffy, AC did not work....old hotel, did not even call the front desk about this.

Staff : a bit mixed. Our waiter in the breakfast was very good, efficient, friendly and polite all at the same time. Concierge when we arrived was sub-par....we had accidentally parked on Union and not taken the 2nd St entrance...when I asked him directions he just mumbled carry on on Union and turn left on Madison...40 mins later I found the hotel self-parking. My fault entirely, but he should have made the effort. Also bought a bottle of wine at the lobby bar...no tasting offered, just "maybe I should have given you a taste? " after I started it. Good service in the Corner Bar, but a $12 error on the bill for a pizza and bottle of wine !! And no other customers !!!

All in all still a great hotel, but some of the service is just not 5/5. Would stay here again if in Memphis.

Dear gdesmond61,

Thank you for telling us about your recent stay at The Peabody. I am pleased that you enjoyed your room, and were able to spend time in our Grand Lobby. I apologize for the miscommunication in regards to parking your vehicle. While our street address is for Union Avenue, the original front entrance of the hotel, our valet parking and parking garage entrance is located on Second Street, just south of Union. I hope that you visit The Peabody again soon.

My husband and I booked the Elvis package tour at the Peabody. With this package our room was upgraded to a corner room. It has been our experience at historic hotels to put up with a small room but this was not the case at the Peabody. This corner room was airy with windows on two of the walls and nicely decorated. This historic hotel is very well maintained with a pleasant most helpful staff. We checked in at 3pm, unpacked and headed back downstairs. As we got off the elevator, the lobby was beginning to fill up, we found a spot and waited for the duck procession at 5pm. It is well worth seeing this at the beginning of your visit as it sets the stage for the whole experience of the Peaboby.
We were given recommendations for a local restaurant and headed to Beale St. The next evening we experienced the Chez Philippe. Wonderful! The only negative was our room's tiny bathroom, but even this was made doable considering the room.

Dear DarlingHarb0ur,

I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay and the Elvis’ Blue Suede package. Packages are a great way to visit the “South’s Grand Hotel” as many include fun amenities. I hope you enjoyed your tour of Graceland and the Elvis Presley Celebriduck that was included with your package.

Thanks again,

The Peabody in Memphis, TN is truly one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. Not because of the room in particular, but because of the overall service and the food. I was there for a 4 day conference and was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful everything was. The staff were friendly and quick to accommodate requests. The food... we had buffet style for most meals and predetermined meals for others. Each one was top quality; everything was fresh, tasty, and served at just the right temperature.

One must see, of course, is the daily duck walks when they come to and from the lobby fountain for the day. It's such a silly thing, really, but worth taking the time to stop what you're doing and watch the procession. However be aware of the scheduled times because it only takes a couple of minutes so if you're late you'll miss the show.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for both business or pleasure and I hope I'll get the chance to stay there again some time (preferably for fun and not work though.)

Magnificent old hotel where you are treated like someone special! So beautiful yet comfortable and the staff is so friendly and polite. It was raining a lot the days we were there so really appreciated the hospitality of the Peabody! Walking distance to Beale St. and anything you need. Great restaurants and shopping so close. Took our wine up to the roof one evening after rain stopped and sat in rocking chairs watching the boats on the river with a beautiful sunset! And Easter Sunday champagne brunch... Wow! Can't wait to go back!

We stayed here for a wedding and we had a wonderful time. Who can't love the ducks each day and since it was the Christmas holiday, the hotel décor was at it's finest. The lobby bar was pretty noisy, but so many people were there to enjoy a special holiday treat. It just added to the festive occasion. I am so thankful we were able to experience this historic hotel.
