Probably the most expensive hotel we stayed at during a two week road trip, but not that much more expensive than the Holiday Inn etc -- and absolutely worth it, lots more character and style. We had a beautiful, large room, and small details like the cute duck soap show the attention to detail and service provided here. The only negative were the rude staff at the deli, otherwise as close to perfection as you can get. (Hint: If you buy a 4 1/2 star hotel on Hotwire, it's likely to be the Peabody.)

The sheets had what looked like a coffee spill and the comforter had a toothpaste and lipstick smear that was about 3 inches in diameter. That you could not miss, but some how housekeeping missed it THREE times!!! It took two complaints to the front desk. Two complaints to housekeeping and two nights before the situation was rectified. The front desk clerk stated she just didn't know what we wanted her to do. Disgusting!!!! The tub didn't drain while showering. There was a clump hair about a foot long and a centimeter thick floating in the pool. The breakfast buffet was overpriced and the variety nonexistent. Charged extra for omelet station. We booked a special rate on their website but the rate for what we received was far from special!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Stay at another hotel!!!!

We had booked a 'Superior Queen Room', & eventually landed in an accessible king room after determining we couldn't manage the room originally assigned due to some temporary disabilities I had following surgery. This is almost comical, but originally, the only thing we asked for was a room close to the elevator, and the first room assigned was literally FURTHEST on the floor from the elevator. The hotel staff was very responsive, and eventually found us a suitable room. We were at the Peabody for a quiet few days (5) together; though the bed was very comfortable, it got noisy on St. Patrick's Day, & on the weekend when motorcyclists seem to invade Union St. in front of & around the hotel. We totally enjoyed the pool. We booked a Bed & Breakfast package; the food was good, nothing out of the ordinary. We rated the room average; in two rooms shown to us earlier, there was no place to stow toiletries, shaving equipment, etc., & little space for hanging up towels. The Peabody could solve this by installing more hooks and some shelves in the bathrooms. We liked the traditional & comfortable furnishings in rooms and lobby, where we enjoyed live music, some peace & quiet, and the ducks. I'd like to say thanks to the Peabody staff for accommodating my disability, & recommend they keep the Memphis Police after those motorcyclists. This is a family-friendly hotel, so you may find yourself next door to guests with exuberant children.

Room Tip: The two cute little rubber ducks in the room are NOT complimentary, as we thought. If you take them...

Dear Pennsynative,

Thank you for staying at the “South’s Grand Hotel” during your visit to Memphis. I apologize for the complications you experienced upon arriving, but I am pleased that our staff was able to find a more suitable room to accommodate you. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay, and appreciate your recommendations regarding our bathrooms. The Peabody will go under a major room restoration later this year, and I have noted your suggestions. Part of the renovation includes new guestroom windows, which will greatly reduce street noise on busy nights downtown. I hope that you visit The Peabody again soon.

Thanks again,

I stayed at this hotel for a conference. Our conference room rate was $125.00 and it was worth every penny! My (7th floor) king size bed was in a room large enough to hold four of them! I had a walk-in closet and gorgeous bath (although not all of the rooms were so spacious according to my colleagues.) Every single staff person was sweet and helpful. They definitely went the extra mile! It was also the best conference food I have ever had! The fountain and it's ducks we're a great treat! It was exciting to be in a hotel that was also an attraction. It was an experience in and of itself! I should also mention that the hotel is within walking distance of Beale St and the Mississippi River!

Just spent two nights here, what a beautiful hotel.Staff were very helpful and from the moment we checked in we really felt welcomed. We opted for the $30 upgrade and the room was very spacious. The duck parade was very cute and attracted a lot of people, but we did not realize till later that the ducks stay all day at the fountain in the foyer,so we could get better photos later. The decor at the hotel is so luxurious it really makes you feel special.Well worth staying here

Room Tip: Go for an upgrade and treat yourself, the rooms are much more spacious

Dear jensSydney,

Thank you for the great tip concerning taking pictures of the Peabody Ducks for future guests. As you mentioned the Duck March can be difficult to photograph due to the large crowds and the fact that the ducks move quickly, but the Ducks do stay in the fountain for six hours, providing great photo opportunities all day. We hope you visit The Peabody again soon.

While it might not be the fanciest room and services, staying in the Peabody is an experience not te be missed in Memphis. The beautiful lobby, the great location, the historical shops, and the cute little ducks make for a great atmosphere. It is a great example of a truly Southern experience.

We booked a Club Level room and paid $390 per night. The room was nice but not $390 nice. The hotel is spectacular but i would like to see the difference in my $390 room compared to the regular $200 room. Not worth the price.

Room Tip: Book a regular room and get up early if you want to see the ducks. You need to be in line at least...
