Authentic Memphis style, dry rub ribs with or without sauce (optional). We arrived at 5:00pm on a Tuesday and received quick, courteous service. You can sense the time honored tradition of smoking meat when you pull into the parking lot and smell the wood smoked meat coming from inside. The facilities are older, well worn, but clean. We purchased the full and half rack of ribs ($20-full/$10-half). It was plenty o' food for our family of four.

They have an attached dining room that is air conditioned (98 degrees outside, 72 degrees inside) for your eating comfort. There is extra sauce and napkins at the table.

The ribs had a nice, slow cooked crusty layer akin' to jerky on the outside (from the dry rub and time in the smoker) and the juicy meat inside just fell off the bone. We ordered the ribs with sauce applied. The sauce is slightly sweet with a tangy flavor you would expect.

We are fans of "Guy" and had to try this place out. We were not disappointed!

We saw this on diners drive-ins and dives and noticed it was the number 5 restaurant in memphis so we were excited to try Tom's. The beef brisket was ok, the smoked bbq chicken was terrible tho had been sitting in the smoker way, way, way, too long the sides were edible the banana pudding was a let down - Tom however was very friendly and gave us a free side of pulled pork and some sliced bologna, the bologna was very good. The price was on par with most bbq places like this - we have a place here in savannah called the smokin pig that has better food all around than Tom's

Driving from FL - IL, we purposely stopped at Tom's BBQ after seeing Diners, Drive-In's and Dives while driving home. A little out of our way, but worth it. Yes it looks like a Dive but tastes wonderful! You won't regret stopping and trying their ribs. (Ribs are dry rubbed and there is sauce on the tables) Very good value for what you get. Address is NEW Getwell, Memphis

Before I give you our review, the address for Tom's that is listed on this site is incorrect. The correct street address is 4087 New Getwell Rd. and I notified Trip Advisor.
The reason I know this is we found out the hard way lol. We put the listed address into our GPS and when we got to that address there was nothing there. So I called the Restaurant and they informed me that Getwell Rd. turns into New Getwell Rd. and that 3067 was incorrect and the street number is actually 4087.
Two years ago we ate at Corky's BBQ and thought those ribs were the best until we ate at Tom's. They are so flavorful, so tender, they are falling off the bone and they melt in your mouth. The fries and baked beans were also really good. The people are really friendly and the menu is huge! I wish we had a Tom's where we live so I could try everything.
We come to Memphis at least once a year so we will definately go back!
