Owner description: Sun Studio - The place where an 18 year old Elvis Presley recorded his first song. It’s well-known in the music industry as "The Birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll" and the most famous recording studio in the world. Opened by rock pioneer Sam Phillips in 1950, this national Historic Landmark is where superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and countless others started their recording careers. Today, Sun Studio still serves as a recording studio in the evenings while hosting public tours during the daytime hours.

Really good tour with a guide who gave both passion and reverence to the history of Sun Studios. I did not realise the part this small studio had in the creation of rock and roll. Do go while this icon of the past is still with us.

Great tour of sun records, the tour guide was a doll. It was neat to learn some of the history of the studio. The staff in the gift shop could care less if you want to make a purchase and forget getting a milkshake, they were so spread out over the area doing whatever that you couldn't get to the counter, it was also an obvious inconvenience for them to ring up your purchase. The girl with the blue hair, you would be pretty if you were the least bit freindly or nice. Anyway, the tour part was great, I recommend, gift shop experience, not so much.

Very entertaining tour guide but not a lot to see (its a recording studio - duh). First we climbed steep stairs and stood around in a very small room with around the perimeter display cases of memorabilia while the tour guide gave a very entertaining presentation. But they had way to many people in the tour and it was a tight fit for all of us. Interesting memorabilia, though. Then we went back down the steep steps to the actual recording studio where another presentation was given. There is parking down a hidden alley on the right side of the studio (as you are facing it). Plus, the free (air-conditioned) Sun Studio Shuttle bus drops off and picks up here.

So glad we went to Sun Studio! Our guide was great and enthusiastic! They have a shuttle that will pick you up and take you back to different stops! Don't try to walk, not such a great neighborhood. We walked in a group but shouldn't have. A very memorable attraction with lots of information!

Loved this tour. We got to go into the actual recording studio and I actually learned more about Elvis's career here than at Graceland. Smaller tour with a personal guide. We were taken here by Back City Tours. I highly recommend. Remember this is an old building so don't assume your going to a museum. The same flooring and walls from back when Elivs, Jerry, Carl, BB, Etc. recorded here. Gift shop is very small and limited.
