Owner description: Sun Studio - The place where an 18 year old Elvis Presley recorded his first song. It’s well-known in the music industry as "The Birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll" and the most famous recording studio in the world. Opened by rock pioneer Sam Phillips in 1950, this national Historic Landmark is where superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and countless others started their recording careers. Today, Sun Studio still serves as a recording studio in the evenings while hosting public tours during the daytime hours.

Interesting place. A tourist trap, though; the tour was crowded and our tour guide seemed rushed and aloof. I'd say if you like rockabilly, blues, country or oldies music, it's worth it for the music they play in the actual place where the music was made! Otherwise, I don't think the tour was informative enough to be worth it.

GOTTA take the tour...(free parking in the back)...more music history in this little building than in most other states...your moment with the Elvis spot is great, but seeing the first rock and roll record EVER was IT!

Took my kids for the historical value, worth every penny. The tour guide couldn't help to be cute, she was the best with blue hair. There was a moment when when she played a snippet from a recording of the prisonaires, it was the most chilling and creepy moment there. Awesome experience, met many people from all over the world.

There are two ways to look at this museum/tour. If you aren't really familiar with the history of Sun Records or you are a big Elvis fan then this tour is for you. Personally, I wanted to learn more about the Memphis Recording service and the work Sam Phillips did before he started Sun Records. My tour guide was very friendly but barely mentioned the this part of Sam Phillips' history. To be fair, most people that walk into Sun Records today probably aren't really interested in the history of "The Memphis Recording Service". The whole studio was pretty touristy and crowded. I walked off the tour half way through and felt like I had wasted my money. If you're a real history buff you should probably skip this tour and go straight to the Stax Museum of American Soul Music.

An excellent tour, with a guide who really loved her job, amazing to realise the tunes that came from Sun, other than Elvis. It was incredible to stand in the studio, but also to see the office that Elvis would have first walked into.
