Owner description: Sun Studio - The place where an 18 year old Elvis Presley recorded his first song. It’s well-known in the music industry as "The Birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll" and the most famous recording studio in the world. Opened by rock pioneer Sam Phillips in 1950, this national Historic Landmark is where superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and countless others started their recording careers. Today, Sun Studio still serves as a recording studio in the evenings while hosting public tours during the daytime hours.

I'm a fan of blues/elvis/Cash/etc. and I really wanted to go to the studio but my wife wasn't really into it. As soon as we got there, she was the on who was all excited ! The tour is super fun, interactive and you actually learn stuff from it. It's a must do in Memphis !

Loved our visit to Sun Studios. The museum upstairs has many interesting artefacts from the early days of Sun. The Tour leader did a great job in setting the scene, playing extracts from early recordings etc. But going into the actual studio room where history was made was an amazing experience. The studio is so well preserved and the 'ghosts' in the room really make you tingle! Just go and experience!!

We found Sun Studios to be a really nice tourist attraction that didn't seem overtly 'touristy'.

Long live Elvis and Rock 'n' Roll! Very small studio indeed but jam packed with music history. Great to stand at the mike used by Elvis and other great stars! Guide was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable.

The studio tour had 2 parts: a small museum upstairs in which you stood to listen to the guide and the downstairs recording studio. The guide was interesting, but there was not much to see compared to the Rock & Soul Museum. The best part was hearing the actual recording of Elvis doing an audition tape and his first recording. They also have a cute milk bar.
