Owner description: Sun Studio - The place where an 18 year old Elvis Presley recorded his first song. It’s well-known in the music industry as "The Birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll" and the most famous recording studio in the world. Opened by rock pioneer Sam Phillips in 1950, this national Historic Landmark is where superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and countless others started their recording careers. Today, Sun Studio still serves as a recording studio in the evenings while hosting public tours during the daytime hours.

Jason did the tour; enthusiastic to the max, made it fun fun fun. This is the real deal for r and r fans of the fifties and sixties- Rufus, Carla, Roy O., Jerry Lee L., E. P., Howling Wolf, etc. they were all here...and you'll stand where they did and have a great time!

It was crazy how much we learned from this tour about how Elvis became famous. Also, you get a chance to hold the same microphone that Elvis and Johnny Cash sang into and stand in the same place that Elvis stood. It was really neat. This is a must see in Memphis. This attraction had plenty of free parking in the back of the studio.

With Jake as your guide at Sun Studio you get unmatched enthusiasm and information. You even get to sing along with Johnny Cash on "Walk the Line" in the studio where the Million Dollar Quartet jammed on Dec. 4, 1956. It is a "must do" for visitors to Memphis, and if you've seen "Milliion Dollar Quartet" on Broadway, it's even better.
Thanks, Jake, for making my first trip to Memphis so memorable.

We had high expectations after reading all the reviews on TripAdvisor and were not disappointed at all. Just being in the room where so much of Rock & Roll history was made was very cool. Highly recommend this tour to any music fans out there.

This was a fun place to visit. The sun studio is basically two things, the upstairs room with great examples of the rise of elvis and sun studios. The lower level is the actual recording space which is still used to this day. The tour was enjoyed by all, even my teens. The stories shared by the guide were memorable and added slot. My only criticism would be working with the tour guides to make them more personable and less full of themselves. They have the "too cools" which was distracting. At the end they collect tips, my son gave her ours but she must have thought I didn't tip her o she would not answer my question and only talked to people she was sure tipped her. Don't let this stop you from the visit, it is well worth it.
