“A must see in Memphis”
Reviewed July 21, 2014

Once a month, my co-worker and I are "Discovering Memphis" by visiting local museums and learning about Memphis history. The Slave Haven was our first of such visits, and it was a very memorable experience. It was moving, educational, and inspirational. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting in Memphis, and all those that live here that haven't experienced this place.

“Slave Haven-Memphis, TN”
Reviewed July 18, 2014

This place was very interesting. They will let you actually go into the cellar where the slaves hide. It was very educational. It was a time we should all remember, so we will never return again. Unfortunately, these type of underground railroad stops are not being taught. I shouldn't have waited until Black History Day to go to Slave Haven.

“The best unbiased history lesson I've had in years. ”

This is truly a place you must stop by and see. It's worth every penny to learn about the truths of our past in the United States. The house for which it stood was epic and hits the soul.

“Worthy Stop”
Reviewed July 5, 2014

Stopped here at the recommendation of the Rockin' Running Tours guide and found it very informative. Not your typical museum, but it is still a worth while stop. Price is reasonable considering the length of the talk during the tour.

“Favorite of our Memphis Trip”
Reviewed July 4, 2014

From the outside, this place doesn't look like much. But inside, there was so much to see and learn! The historians who hosted our tour were knowledgable, passionate, and engaging. Even if you know a lot about slavery and the history of it, you are sure to learn new things on this tour. This is a must-see for anyone visiting Memphis and was the most important and worthwhile activity of our visit. I would happily visit again.
