With all of the awesome things in Memphis, this wasn't my favorite. I think we were just "museumed out" by the time we hit this one. It had good stuff, but seem boring to us.

Brings all the musical jigsaw pieces of Memphis together- gospel, blues, country, stax - it could only result in one thing - rock n roll and the music you listen to today - excellent exhibition!

This museum prepared us for our visit to Stax. It gave us a lot of historical facts that showed how rock and soul melded together. Again, please allow 2 - 4 hours (or more) to go through this museum. It was great!

This museum showed the history of American music. It was a self-guided tour with headphones and you could go at your own pace and spend as much time as you wanted at each exhibit. It was relatively inexpensive ($11) and conveniently located on Beale St. It was a good way to spend an hour or so.

Whether your preferred genre is blues, country, soul, or rock and roll, this will take you back to the roots and let you here and see the fertile ground that produced American music.
