Graceland mansion and grounds are situated on Elvis Presley Boulevard just outside Memphis.
The tour provides visitors a look into the private world of Elvis at home where he spent time with his family and friends away from his recording, stage and film performances.
For the self guided tour, handsets are provided before boarding the shuttle bus to drive visitors from the centre across the road and through the famous gates up the driveway to the front of the mansion. The tour concentrates on all the downstairs areas, decorated and furnished to Elvis’ tastes and likings of the 1960’s and early 70’s era, including, lounge, dining room, mirrored staircase, family kitchen, ‘jungle’ room with water feature, Elvis’ parent’s bedroom, pool room, TV room and bar. The viewing areas are narrow with visitors in line, take your time to look around and take lots of photos by just letting other visitors pass by. The tour also includes external area including Vernon’s office, family swimming pool, grass paddocks with horses. As a keen racquetball player Elvis had his own court built which displays many of his stage suits, awards and huge collection of record discs. At the front of this building is a lounge area with the piano Elvis played to friends on the morning of his death. The final part of the tour is in a quiet area of the garden around a water fountain feature where there are the four graves, of Elvis, his parents and his twin stillborn brother. Fans tributes regularly adorn the surrounding area with flowers and message displays.
Back across the road at the Elvis centre, visitors can enjoy other tribute displays and films from tours and shows, ‘everything Elvis’ gift shops, a 50’s themed burger & soda shakes diner, Elvis’ airliner named 'Lisa Marie', his private jet and an automobile museum displaying many of Elvis’ limousines.
The best time to visit is out of season, ideally with an Elvis fan, but the tour is generally not suitable for very young children due to boredom from lack of interest.
Well worth a visit, but save up first as the various admission price options are expensive, parking is $10 and a photo in front of a picture backdrop of the mansion gates is an incredible $25.

This was a kitschy but cool attraction. It was all a little tired, inefficient and designed to make you buy merchandise (eg long waits for buses just outside the souvenir shops) but was still worth the visit. Staff on the gate were lovely,

Unless you are a fanatic fan you may be satisfied with just purchasing the mansion tour and the car museum tour. The planes were ok and the other two attractions were just films with old interviews and clips of Elvis singing. The mansion is just how it was in the 70's and worth seeing. I would suggest not eating there after the bad experience we had and the over priced food at the Rock a billy cafe.

There was nothing we did not like about Graceland. The house itself is as it was when Elvis lived there. Smaller than expected but the audio tour was excellent and very informative. There is also a large exhibition at the back of the house and the racquetball court takes your breath away when you walk into it. All in all, very well done - all the expected tat is across the road and doesn't encroach on the house at all. A great experience.
