“Worth your time”

My son is a history buff and wanted to see this museum. It is well worth the time it takes to go through this. We were there probably 3-31/2 hours. THere is a lot of reading, pictures and video clips to see. Very moving! I would like to recommend to the museum that they need a few more benches throughout. They do have some, but they do definitely need more.

Although I enjoyed it, I also saw that the Lorraine Motel had very little to do with the museum. I would have liked that they closed the area where MLK was killed and have the Motel be open for people to rent.

“Very moving”
Reviewed August 17, 2014

A visit to this museum should be required for every visitor to Memphis. I spent three hours walking through the exhibits and could have spent the whole day. I think it would be wise to allot 4-5 hours to go through this museum. Some of the exhibits were very moving and some were difficult to see/hear. All of it was educational and thought-provoking. The exhibits trace the history of the struggle for human rights and civil rights from the beginnings of slavery in the US to the present day. Most of the telephone cords for the listening stations were too short - I had to bend down as I was listening.

“Very powerful”

This museum was more than I expected. They have done a fabulouus job thoughtfully covering a diificult topic in a tasteful manner. The displays are informative and interactive. I wasn't really prepared to all of a sudden be in the hotel rooms as part of the museum. Make sure to go to all three of the buildings that are included.
