“Alot better than expected”
Reviewed January 3, 2010

Read reviews on this site about this hotel & was reluctant on staying here. But everything was ok. I stayed here with 2 other couples during the 2010 Liberty Bowl (GO HOGS!). Staff was extremly friendly & went out of their way to help us. We had a Suite which was a 1 bathroom, living room w/flat screen tv, small bar with a stero system, couch, desk & coffee table. In the other room was a King bed & another Tv. Setup was like a studio really. Room was very nice though! Location isn't perfect if you are wanting to go downtown around Beale Street. But as a bonus, you are right off the interstate & it is probably quicker for cab drivers rather than driving down crowded streets. Mall is nearby. Most things are about 5-10 miles. Rooms were about $99. I would come back again.

We reserved 4 rooms over the Internet. When we arrived, the trash was running over in the front of the hotel lobby. One of the ladies in our group went to use the lobby restroom and could not use it because it was so dirty. This was our first impression. We then decided to check out our rooms. One of the rooms had something that appeared to look like chocolate milk stains all over the mattress and the bed looked as if a young child had made it. The man on duty did offer us another room and it was a great improvement. They need to do a lot of cleaning on the hallway carpets as there was an odor that was hard to overcome. It was also ripped in the middle and needed repaired. A good housekeeper could really improve this hotel. It was lacking that! The only good thing about this hotel was the young man working. He was very apologetic and did offer us a $15 refund on 1 of the rooms.

The halls and elevator smelled, the carpet was very old and dirty, the shower curtain had never been cleaned (or so it seemed), the sheets didn't fit the bed, the coffee pot in the room didn't work and broke while trying to brew, the coffee in the lobby was undrinkable and the rooms felt grubby. We only stay at Marriott hotels so this came as a surprise since we always like them.

Me and my husband went to memphis to get away and try out beale street. we only go to marriotts so we found this one to be priced reasonable. the hotel has apparently gone through some type of renovations so the appearance was very updated. we stayed for 3 nights. our housekeeper made certain that we had everything we needed. and the rest of the staff was just outstanding!! upon checkin they ran out of cookies and i was hoping they had more. they didnt but the front desk clerk OFFERED to bake some more for me. i was suprised. outside of the staff and the cleanliness the security was good and tight. this hotel is a guarenteed satisfaction

We stayed at the Fairfield, Memphis I-240 for 2 nights during an extended cross country vacation. The location is good with very easy access from route 240 and an easy 15-20 minute drive to downtown.

Compared to other Fairfields and other hotels in the same price category, we were disappointed. The hotel wasn't kept up very well. Nothing really dirty, just in need of a remodel.

The shower didn't drain properly, the mattress was poor, and the entire hotel had a bit of a dingy feel. The TV's color was mis-adjusted and there was no way to fix it, even with a request to the front desk, and not all towels were replaced when the room was made up.

There were some positives. The free breakfast was better than average, and the free wireless Internet service worked very well. Also, with the exception of one person who checked us in, the help was always friendly.

The person who checked us in was terrible. As he was checking us in he was ranting about how much he hates Memphis and can't wait until he can leave. This is our first visit to Memphis, so his "welcome to Memphis" ws odd at best. Hopefully he'll get his wish, and find work in a non-service industry. (Note: This didn't effect my overall rating since it was one bad egg, who most likely won't be there long.)

Overall, although we like Fairfield's in general, we wouldn't recommend this hotel. You can find other offerings for a better overall stay.

We spent two nights at this property and found it to be suitable. The room decor was nice, but the level of cleanliness was a bit below par (although not disgustingly horrible). The high-speed internet worked flawlessly. We were traveling with two children, so we spent time at the pool. The chlorine level was excessive and there were no lounge chairs, which we found to be odd considering it is an outdoor pool. Upon inquiring, we were told that the hotel was under new management that had been brought in to rescue the property from a period of disarray. Lounge chairs were scheduled to be added within a few days. The new hotel manager was always around and seemed to be very involved in putting the property back on the right track. The exercise facilities were well-equiped, however the airconditioning was out in that room, making it uncomfortable in the summer heat. The best and most redeeming quality of our stay was the complimentary breakfast. We expected cereal, bagels, and muffins and were pleasantly surprised to find a much more extensive menu. They had buiscuits and sausage gravy, homemade self-serve waffles, microwave breakfast sandwiches, yogurts, peanut butter, fresh fruits, juices, pastries, poptarts, etc. It was AWESOME, especially when traveling with children.

  • Liked — The extensive complimentary breakfast
  • Disliked — No lounge chairs at the outdoor pool

We arrived in the evening, after dark but had no trouble finding the place. The desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and nice but nothing outstanding. Breakfast was good by hotel standards, there was quite a bit to choose from, incuding apples and bananas, microwaveable sausage & biscuit, biscuits & gravy, waffles, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cold cereal, pastry, etc. Main problem for us, was the ice machine on my floor was not working, I had to go up 2 floors to get ice.
I paid $40/ night through Priceline for this $85 room, heck of a deal!
