We stayed 2 nights at the Crowne Plaza. The rooms were nice and clean, parking was secure. The 2nd night there were drinks and appetizers at the bar from 5-7PM, a nice start before heading down to Beale St. We used the pool, it was refreshing as it was quite humid. The property is several blocks from Beale St but the hotel offers a free shuttle service until 11PM after that cabs are available. We even used the shuttle to go to breakfast one morning. Overall, this was a great place to stay for our two nights in Memphis. I would recommend this hotel.

My business partner and I were making our way home after a long business trip and having stayed two nights in the worst hotel I have ever been in (Legacy in Little Rock) we were almost scared as priceline.com pointed us to the Crown Plaza in Memphis. Funny how much you appreciate something nice when you have something awful as a reference point.

The Crown Plaza was amazing. The location was not as close to the excitement of Beale as some other hotels (a few blocks away) but the value was unbeatable. For $79 we got amazingly comfortable beds, a super clean room and, with the exception of the desk clerk when we checked in, an amazing staff. We both slept the best we had our entire trip and awoke rested and ready for the 6 hour drive home.

If you are in Memphis and want value do try the Crown Plaza.

We stayed here for one night and we were impressed with the staff most of all. Everyone was very very friendly and helpful. We took the shuttle to Beale for dinner and a Redbirds game and it was very quick and professional. Our only complaint is the location of the hotel, it would be nice to have been closer to Beale.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 5th floor at the end of hall and we didn't hear a sound all night.

The Crowne Plaza hotel in Downtown Memphis is good place to stay if you are on a budget. It's on the north end of Downtown (right off I-40 near St. Jude) so it's not that close to the action of the south end of Downtown (Beale St., FedEx Forum, AutoZone Park). However, you catch the Main St. Trolley one block over or take hotel's own shuttle and be at the south end of tweon in five minutes. Rooms are good, beds are comfortable, service is about average. Be sure to ask for a room on the south (pool) side of the building. Rooms on the north side of the building face busy I-40 and could be noisy. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are quieter, due to rooms on the north side face I-40. I-40 is very busy al...

Great shuttle drivers! Cleo and Reginald made us feel like family and took us to the most important places! They have lived the dream of Memphis and shared it! So polite, customer oriented!

Rooms were clean and I loved the shower and high quality products, loved the aroma therapy night treats (spray and creams).

Convenient location.

Something must of gone terribly wrong with our stay after reading other trip advisors feedback. After our four week holiday and staying at 7 different hotels throughout the USA. I have to be honest and say this was the worst experience I had encountered staying at crown plaza. We were meant to stay three nights here..Firstly I was wary as I was told two different valet prices. We headed up to our room and the elevator was terribly loud and shaky. As soon as we walked into our room, a terrible dampness smell hit us with a vengeance, guessing something to do with poor air conditioning as the sheets and Donna had a damp wetness to touch.
The rooms were clean, but the phone didn't work properly, the bedside lamp power didn't work, the Internet in our room was appalling, ( being from Australia, and a real estate agent, communication via email/ Facebook etc was critical for me) Apparently the lobby downstairs gets great Internet, but who would be game during the night to sit around a lobby when there are warnings safety tips that make you afraid to answer the door to staff never mind walking down the hallways at night.
The tv channels didn't change and the remote didn't work ( which that was the only thing that was eventually fixed)
I was really unhappy with our room due to these things and especially the smell was terrible and rang the front desk who put me on hold for about 30 minutes and then said they would get the manager to call me back! Needless to say no phone call.
If my partner had his way and if it wasn't for the fact our hotel had been prepaid, we would of checked out straight away due to the poor service and lack of understanding.
Based on this, an hour later we decided to head to Nashville and packed an overnight bag to spend a night there instead. So we missed the second night at this hotel and frankly we were worried if our bags would be still in our room by the warnings around. Again as soon as we walked into our room, for our third night there, that dampness smell was still there..
I rang up management and eventually I got hold of steve who was the only helpful person at the hotel. Don't get me wrong staff were friendly enough, but when we spoke to anyone about our concerns, the front desk was non committal and didn't know anything, the safe was in a room where the staff eat, and made you feel like you were intruding, the valet when we left admitted he was asleep (although in his defense was 2am) when we left the hotel to the airport..when i called about the poor internet they said just come downstairs it works fine here, . We arrived at the hotel on a weekend, so there was no laundry service.... So we asked around to go to a local laundry mat and we were told " oh no... Don't do that, it's too dangerous! We ended up taking our dirty laundry with us to Nashville to they hotel we stayed at that DID have a laundry facicility there and washed our clothes. We felt so uncomfortable that we chose to eat in our room both for breakfast and dinner. The one thing I did say was lovely, was the bed.... To managment reading this, this is an honest opinion of our stay... I have given feedback on six other hotels and some were exceptional.
Unfortunately this part of our holiday was the only disappointment throughout the whole trip.
