We arrived at the hotel on July 5, 2013 around 8 p.m. We checked out on July 8th. I had booked the hotel through Expedia. Tip: Don't ever do this. Call the hotel directly and book your rooms. I told the Expedia rep that I wanted a king bed in a non smoking room and that I didn't want to pay extra for parking. (self parking at the Crowne is $17 a day. Valet is $20) The only thing I got was the non smoking room. Needless to say, I was upset and my husband was furious but we were lucky to have Erica Batchelor of Guest Services helping us. She was so calm and apologized first. Then she explained that 3rd party vendors often do not know what is really available at the hotel. (My guess is that they do know but book according to what you want, banking on the fact that you'll take what's available once you get there.) Erica told us there were street lots to park at if we chose but said the lots aren't patrolled. She also put an alert on our room to let the morning crew know that if a king room became available to let us know and we could move. The room we were in was very nice and spacious with 2 full beds. Very clean room and the beds were comfortable. We loved the shower! So we decided not to move into a room with a king bed and promptly told the day staff the next morning. Jennifer and Temeka were also very helpful and friendly and when Erica saw us the next day she followed up and asked if we got the room with the king bed. I don't remember all the names but the manager of the restaurant greeted us and welcomed us to the city and the hotel. Room services, valet staff; just everyone was great. No one volunteered any information on where to go or where to eat in the city but when we asked, everyone was very knowledgeable and provided good information. The free coffee in the morning and the lemonade in the afternoon was an extra added appreciated touch. Thanks! There are a lot of hotels closer to Beale Street and downtown but I'm glad we stayed here as it allowed us to see and be closer to other sites such as the splash pad near the center of the city, state and federal government center, the entrance to the Mud Island Tram, Confederate Park and The Fire Museum. Had we stayed closer in, we may not have found these other sites as we may not have walked "back" in that direction. The hotel is about 15 minutes from Beale Street so it was a nice walk or you can take the trolley in front of the Marriott which is right across the street from the Crowne. The Crowne has a shuttle service but we didn't use it. There's also a nice lounge in the Crowne that features live music once a week. I would stay here again. Except for the booking hiccup, it was a nice stay.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 5th floor and faced the pool side of the hotel. There's a church across the...

Room Tip: Recommend for anyone staying in Memphis location to Mud Island and Beale street a plus

The staff at this hotel is wonderful. There was an issue with my Hotels.com reservation (on the hotels.com side) and the Crowne Plaza staff diligently worked to get it resolved, specifically Lakenya. You can stay in a great hotel, but if the staff is rude, it will ruin your experience. Despite my delayed check-in, the staff made me feel great about staying in their hotel.

Room Tip: If using a laptop, plug into their free internet system instead of using the wi-fi.

We spent three nights here in June 2013. A small hotel but it has a very nice friendly atmosphere about it. The rooms are lovely clean and spacious and there is a a nice modern bathroom. The interior of the hotel is slightly dated but this was more than compensated for by the lovely staff who were always on hand to assist and the wonderful drivers who ferried us to different venues and were a great source of information and advice during our stay.Free food and drink was provided at the managers welcome party which was a nice touch too. There is a small pool which is great to chill out ,plenty of fresh fluffy towels and we had a really great time here.As a bonus wifi is also free....some of the kindest staff we have met anywhere and a great base for a trip to memphis which is an amazing place to visit and after a hard days sightseeing the comfiest beds ever !!!!

The hotel is small, run by friendly helpful staff. The rooms are clean with ample space. There is a lovely pool outside on the ground floor, with fresh towels for all guests. Free wifi is available, and there is a fantastic shuttle, that ferries you around Memphis to wherever you want to go, then picks you up and brings you back to the hotel. You just ring the drivers when you are ready to return to the hotel. Both Taylor and Love, the shuttle drivers were a font of knowledge and made you feel safe and looked after. We were invited to the Manager's drinks party, where we shared food and drinks with the staff who were so friendly and treated us like family. Memphis was fantastic, helped by Taylor, who took us to The Blue Plate restaurant for breakfast, then dropped us off for visits to Graceland, and Stax etc. At night Love took us to Beale Street and gave us lots of advice on which bars to visit. There is also a tram that runs right through Memphis for a dollar and is easy to use. We would definitely use this hotel again

Room Tip: we were on the 15th floor which was lovely and quiet
