“great zoo!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2008

Cat Country, the China exhibit with Pandas and Komodo Dragons, Primate Canyon and the fantastic Northwest Passage polar bear and sea lion exhibits make the Memphis Zoo well worth the money to visit. It is a day-long visit to see everything. The polar bear and sea lion exhibits are first class! Lots of eye-level views for kids and adults of the bears and sea lions above AND below the water. Cat country has room for the tigers to romp and play and they placed the meerkats across from the cheetas to give both animals stimulation. in 2008 they will begin working on the Northwest Passage to bring back the grizzlies along with addition of Timberwolves.

“Greatest zoo in the south”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2008

This zoo is better than any I have ever been to. The amount of time and money spent to make it work is all worth it. The pandas, polar bears, apes, and the seals were spectacular! Theyre making new exhibits all the time and a must-see when your visiting Memphis.

“Great fun for families”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 27, 2008

As a lifelong Memphian, we go to the Memphis Zoo every chance we get. They have made MAJOR improvements over the past few years, with more on the way. NEGATIVES: The admission prices are very steep-I would advise getting a membership. It is cheaper and they reciprocate with many zoos across the country. Also, do not plan on eating in the zoo. They only have a Backyard Burger and for a family it can get rather pricey. POSITIVES: The animal habitats are beautiful and are defintely worth seeing.

“Great during Autumn!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2007

Memphis autumns are warm enough to wear a long-sleeved shirt, pants, and flip flops so I was amazingly comfortable walking thru the zoo on a great autumn day. You never really realize how much foliage is in the zoo until autumn when all the leaves are changing colors -- makes for a fantastic day.
The zoo has many events too -- Christmas lights during Christmas (and carriage rides, music, etc.), Starbucks passes out free coffee occasionally, etc. Check out the website to see what events are taking place and your trip to the Memphis Zoo can be GREAT!
