“Great fun for families”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 27, 2008

As a lifelong Memphian, we go to the Memphis Zoo every chance we get. They have made MAJOR improvements over the past few years, with more on the way. NEGATIVES: The admission prices are very steep-I would advise getting a membership. It is cheaper and they reciprocate with many zoos across the country. Also, do not plan on eating in the zoo. They only have a Backyard Burger and for a family it can get rather pricey. POSITIVES: The animal habitats are beautiful and are defintely worth seeing.

“Great during Autumn!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2007

Memphis autumns are warm enough to wear a long-sleeved shirt, pants, and flip flops so I was amazingly comfortable walking thru the zoo on a great autumn day. You never really realize how much foliage is in the zoo until autumn when all the leaves are changing colors -- makes for a fantastic day.
The zoo has many events too -- Christmas lights during Christmas (and carriage rides, music, etc.), Starbucks passes out free coffee occasionally, etc. Check out the website to see what events are taking place and your trip to the Memphis Zoo can be GREAT!

“We loved the Pandas!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2007

Loved this zoo. It wasnt huge, which was great as the temperature was soaring when we visited and everything was in a reasonable walking distance. The pandas were fabulous as were the Polar Bears who put on a beautiful swimming display. Excellent value for money (and there is a money-off voucher on your Graceland map if you go there first) and a fantastic day out for all ages.

“Great outing for anyone”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2007

I love the zoo, I've been a member for years and I think it's one of the best attractions for locals and tourists alike that we have to offer here. Our zoo isn't the biggest, fanciest, or most high-tech around, but it's certainly exceptional for our city. They have revamped the zoo so much over the years that it doesn't even look the same. The China exhibit is spectacular as is the new Northern Passage. The zoo is perfect for anyone who wants a family-friendly environment and a relaxing day. I go up there often just for a few hours to walk around, see the animals, and have a nice peaceful afternoon. The location is also great, in the heart of midtown, in Overton Park, and near the art center.
