Arrived on Friday 6th December 2012 and had pre-booked a table as there were 9 of us staying at Knoydart House. Had a great meal so we booked a table for Thursday 12th, the night before we left. Again excellent meals all round.

In between we had some good nights in the Old Forge catching up with the locals (this was my 7th visit in 7 years so know some quite well!).

Good to see it was still open in the winter (when we were there in April for the Music Festival there was talk of it closing for winter).

What a charming place. Walking into the Old Forge you might expect the locals to stop talking and stare at you, but it's nothing like that. The welcome is warm and although very basic inside and out the food is great. The seafood is excellent, the wines also very good. We spent three days in Knoydart. Swam in a waterfall pool and enjoyed ourselves with locals and live music in the bar at The Old Forge. Would return tomorrow and every day after.

Brilliant - loved it and the food! The great thing about this place is that anyone can just strike up a conversation with anyone else at any time and before you know it you are chatting the night away!

Very welcoming to all - I'd recommend booking in advance for food though.

Thank Keith C

Took the boat to Inverie for the afternoon, so just had to have lunch at the Old Forge. The weather was stunning so we went for a walk before lunch and got back to the pub around 2pm. Unfortunately, the langoustines had sold out by then, so I had a the very tasty mussels, while th other half had the scallops. The food was very enjoyable and the atmosphere in the pub very relaxed. We did have to wait to get served, and there was only one choice of wine by the glass, which I find quite unusual these days. Lunch was soon consumed, and it was off for another walk. We returned to the pub later on to wait for the boat, and of course have another drink, and enjoyed listening to the impromptu jamming session that was going on outside in the sunshine. Could have stayed all evening!

Having visited the Knoydart for the past six years and spent many evenings at The Old Forge,Our best visit was on Thursday the 3rd of October 2013,The fillet steak and scallops which we had as a main course were delicious and of high quality and the best meal we had in the 10 days that we spent visiting the North West Of Scotland.
The bar staff and the new owner Jean Pierre were very friendly and most hospitable couldn't have asked for a nicer evening.
Before our dinner we sat in the pubs conservatory and watched the sun set and it was an amazing scene.
Considering the location and the fact that everything has too be transported by boat to the Knoydart,The food and alcohol prices were very reasonable and a very good cosmopolitan wine list.
Well done Jean Pierre!
