Am I dreaming? This estate is located on prime property with outstanding views. Well kept grounds and rooms, lovely and extensive walking paths, boating and tennis opportunities, excellent and varied food from the chef; and super service at the desk and by the staff, add up to a dream vacation. Camelot for sure. Revisiting a life-style of past civility was a pleasure not to be found any where else. Please help conserve this landmark. Abigail Wrenn

We stayed at the GCH 20 years ago, and based on our memories, we decided to book rooms here again. We remember the hotel as a bit frayed around the edges, but located in an out-of-the-way area that is probably as gorgeous a setting as one would find anywhere in Scotland. We can now update our impressions and report that the "frayed around the edges" look is gone as the hotel has obviously been updated and beautifully maintained, and of course, the views over the loch and the grounds are still as breathtaking as I remember. What a pleasure it was to enjoy and renew memories of the elegant sitting rooms and the peaceful and verdant gardens and walkways; of particular note is the pathway that leads directly down from the center of the hotel to a tiny dock where the view of the loch and the hills beyond are magnificent, and the only sounds are the gentle lapping of the water on the shore and the occasional bleating of a lamb. There is a certain symmetry in this pathway that suggests that the architect knew that this configuration would be appreciated as long as the structure stands. The rooms are comfortable and spotless, some tucked down a creaky labyrinth of hallways and short staircases, only adding to the inherent charm of this hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful and the evening meal was quite good, although we were disappointed that the menu, which changes each day, did not include lamb and salmon on the particular night we ate there. However, lamb and salmon were on the evening menu the day that we left. Overall, when considering the location, the grounds, the rooms and the food, while the GCH wouldn't be considered a budget establishment, we felt that the prices were reasonable considering the uniqueness and ambience the hotel offers.

We have just returned from our stay at the the Glengarry Castle Hotel and are still basking in the memories of our visit. From the stunning grounds to the hospitality of the staff and the incredibly relaxing environment, our stay there was all we hoped for and then some. We are a family of 5, including three teen-age and grown children, and we all equally enjoyed our experience. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The location is, as advertised, convenient to so many spots. We spent 6 days there and found enjoyable day trips each of the days we were there, and could have done more.

And the food was amazing. Featuring local produce and dishes with a gourmet twist, the only problem we faced each night was choosing which of the offerings to pick. And for the vegetarians in our group, each of the 4 courses always included a vegetarian choice, creative and delicious. After dinner, guests were welcome to retire to the sitting room for tea and mints or a scotch, where you could watch television with other guests or play a board game or simply enjoy a view to the grounds. Although our original thought was to spend several nights dining out and continuing our touring, we quickly realized that dinner and relaxation at the hotel was the most welcome way to end a busy day of touring.

Staying at the Glengarry Castle Hotel was a true treat that I hope we will be able to repeat again some day.

My husband and I have just returned from the Glengarry Hotel. Everyone should know about this fabulous hotel. It is locally owned and the service is very good. We were greeted by the owner of the hotel, Donald, a really nice chap and nothing was too much trouble. The staff are so friendly giving you advice on activities around the grounds or local attractions. The food in the restuarant is delicious, all 4 courses of it, (try the haggis with 'nips & tatties'! Yum) The wine selection is great and at a good price. They don't try it on with extra charges, i.e laundry costs around 50p per shirt!!! The grounds are beautiful and well kept, and you can hire boats to take on the Loch for £8 and thats all day! The main thing that surprised my husband and I was that the majority of guests we met have been retruning back to the hotel for years, some of them have been coming back for 20 years! We will definately be returning and more than once!! Well Done Donald and the team at Glengarry. This is how hotels should be!
