“What a treat!”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

The highlight of our stay in Scotland was a night at the Glengarry Castle Hotel. We booked the deluxe double room with the dinner. The property is stunning. The hotel is on the loch with a beautiful view of the mountains and lake. Our room was on the 2nd (3rd in US) floor with no elevator. But the staircase is a treat and there is help for your bags. The room was very large with a sitting area and four poster bed. At night it is very dark and quiet and peaceful. The dinner was a set menu with five courses, extremely wonderful. The breakfast was typical Scottish fare or lighter choices. The staff was friendly and very kind. I loved having after dinner coffee in the lounge. We will go back when we are in Scotland.

We spent two nights during Easter with three kids aged 10, 7, and 0. It started out well with prompt and relevant answers to our e-mails before arrival. We almost thought we had made a mistake upon arriving in a rather grey parking lot with no discernible entrance. Having found it however, we never looked back. The warmth of the fireplaces was matched only by the friendliness of the owner family and the entire staff. Despite having no particular amenities for the children, there was always something to see or do, and there were smiles and friendliness all around. Rooms were clean and big, food excellent, and, as you may have gathered by now, service top-notch. As for stuff to do, there are castle ruins on the property, boat hire and loch fishing for barely no money at all. The walks nearby can be as short or long as you wish, and there is a general peace and quiet about the place that is simply wonderful.

Room Tip: all rooms nice and quiet, loch view obviously preferable.

Stayed here on Saturday night.

The hotel is in a lovely woodland setting beside Loch Oich.
We had a great room with a loch view.

We stayed for dinner which was delicious, and very reasonably priced for the meal we were served.

All the staff were very helpful, polite and friendly.

I've only marked it down a little as the room decor is dated, but this is a very minor detail.

A wonderful place to stay to relax - warm log fires burning, tea and scones being served. Back in time with traditions. Staff very friendly and hospitable. Walks around are lovely. Only thing I could "complain" about was that I found the Dining Room to be a bit crowded but other than that it was a lovely way to end our holiday.

Every time I stop here I expect Her Majesty and the corgis to appear! It's steeped in tradition and just oozes luxury and good old-fashioned charm.

We often stop by on the way to/from the Kyle of Localsh. Taking tea in one of the well appointed drawing rooms - scones with jam and cream or perhaps home made shortbread. And you'll probably be served by at least three memebers of staff!

Looking out over the majestic grounds, strolling down to the loch or catching up on the history of the ruined castle - it's all here. And for very little more than you'd pay in motorway services!

Yes it's a bit remote and yes it's undoubtedly quiet but for tradition, service and style you can't beat it. Recent visits have not included a stop-over and room facilities have clearly been upgraded. I really must make the effort to stay overnight next time!

Don't be intimidated by the surroundings - make the effort and stop even if only for a snack. You won't be sorry!

a delightful place to stay with an excellent service. the views inside and out are spectacular. We were living the dream. There were log fires in the lounge and in the entrance hall. Good wifi for those who need it. we found it very comfortable, warm, welcoming. The park is beautiful and well worth a walk round.

Room Tip: I was travelling with my mother. we had a double room with views on the loch. the room is HUGE and s...
