Hilbre Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #2 of 5 Arisaig B&B and Inns
Reviewed July 9, 2012

Stayed 1 night at the Hilbre B&B whilst attending a friends birthday celebrations. Our double room ensuite was very comfortable, much bigger than most city hotel rooms and the bed was great. Breakfast the next morning in the sun room was lovely, despite the poor weather.(the homemade jam and marmalade with croissants were the stars). Peter & Rosemary could not have been nicer and went out of their way making us feel very welcome. Cannot recommend highly enough. Our next stay will definitely be longer.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights. The weather was terrible, but we still really enjoyed our stay. The room was really comfortable with a nice sea view and of the amazing gardens. Breakfast in the sun room was excellent, with more stunning views. Service was very friendly and we were made to feel very welcome, with nothing seeming too much trouble. If we are back in that part of the world, would definitely use again, hopefully with better weather :-)

We stayed at Hilbre for 2 nights after a 7 night break on the Outer Hebrides - we arrived after taking the ferry from Skye to Mallaig. We had wonderful memories of our last visit to this area many years ago - we were not disappointed and it was a great way to end our holiday. There are lots of beautiful beaches in the area. The visitor centre in Arisaig is well worth a visit - lots of interesting information.
Our room was excellent - views of boats moored in the bay - very comfortable and very helpful hosts. With Rosemary's help we managed to find the cupstone mentioned in the Visitor centre - enjoyed a lovely walk to it and beyond.
I'd certainly recommend Hilbre to anyone looking to stay in this magnificent area - or travelling to or from the ferry point of Mallaig.

Room Tip: Our double aspect double room had a view over the bay. It was quite large, comfortable large bed. S...

We called for a stay of one night and needing a break from our cycle tour immediately booked an extra night as the instant hospitality and comfort were excellent. The village centre is only a short 10 minute walk along the loch side. Peter and Rosemary were very kind to us and even did some washing for us (handy when you are on a lightweight cycle tour)! The bedroom had a super king sized bed, was very spacious and gave us views of Rhum and Eigg over the bay plus a magical sunset so typical of this part of the world. The breakfast is a real pleasure and the jams are made from fruit from their own garden.

I had one night to spend before taking the ferry out to Rum, and Rosemary kindly offered me a double room at a single price. When I arrived, I was upgraded to a very nice large room with superb view over the sea. The bed was very comfortable, there was a good shower, an excellent choice of teas and plenty of room to spread around. The decor was tasteful and the room was warm (maybe a little too warm but I was able to turn down the heat). The B&B is in a lovely spot and very quiet. I had a walk along the sea shore and a good night's sleep. The breakfast room has even better views. Breakfast is simple: a choice of cereals, orange juice, a bowl of fresh fruit - the only real choice is a cooked breakfast or not. I took the cooked option and it was very nicely done ( bacon, mushrooms, potato scone, fried egg and tomato) - though with no choice of how the eggs were cooked. I have no hesitation in recommending Hilbre to others.

The warm friendly hospitality received from Rosemary and Peter was exceptional, their customer service was second to none, a beautiful bed and breakfast, fantastic location,
delicious breakfast especially the "home made" jam.

My weekend was a little piece of heaven on earth.

Will certainly re-visit, I would strongly recommend anyone visiting Arisaig to stay at Hilbre.

Room Tip: The en suite rooms have a beautiful view over Arisaig Bay and the Islands.

We stayed here for 4 nights and we absolutely loved it. We had the king-size room with an en-suite and sea views. The room itself was a great size and the bed was very comfortable! The en-suite was perfect and had everything you could ask for. Like stated on the website we had sea views which were lovely, we could see the seals in the morning sitting on the rocks not far from the bottom of the garden. The owners were very welcoming and ensured we had everything needed for a pleasurable stay. They were happy to help with directions and recommended great places to visit. The breakfast every morning was very yummy and gave us a great start to the day. Arisaig itself is a lovely place to visit and we would happily recommend staying at Hilbre for anyone visiting this area.

Room Tip: The rooms for people staying are all upstairs and there is also a lounge downstairs with a Tv and fi...
