“What a little gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2012

Have just returned from a wonderful stay at this hotel. It has views to die for & so tranquil. The decor is just gorgeous with the bedrooms all individually designed in tartan. Your every need is catered for by fantastic staff and we have to mention Lucia who worked tirelessly making sure that everything was just perfect. David, the co-owner makes sure you have a great time & we cannot praise this little gem highly enough. The food was fantastic & the traditional freshly cooked Scottish breakfast really does set you up for the day.Never drive past the wonderful place.

Room Tip: Isle of Eigg

We booked here for 3 nights in mid-Aug 2012. This 6-room hotel which is perched on the edge of a hill overlooking the white-sandy bay ticks all the boxes. The staff are all just lovely - special mention to Pauline! The rooms (we stayed in 2 of them as it was a late booking and couldn't get the same room for 3 nights continuous) were named after Islands and I'd recommend Canna.
They were cozy and had thoughtful touches like bedside-books, a magnifying mirror (for us short-sighted ladies), dressing-gowns, fluffy towels, mini-toiletries, a folding chair in the bathroom and a Broons annual! Immaculate white bed linen, tea/coffee facilities and was very clean.
The food was superb and well presented - brilliant chef! You could eat in the restaurant or the lounge bar. If you need to escape for a break - this is the place to go - cannot recommend it enough. It was homely but gave you your own space if that makes sense and there were tables outside where you could enjoy an evening dram while watching the sun go down. There was even a decanter of local whisky for a complementary nightcap on the upstairs landing! I'll definitely be going back!
p.s. If you like a dark room you'll need take a sleepmask as there are only wooden blinds on the windows.

Room Tip: All rooms named after islands - Isle of Canna is at the front and highly recommended.

Whimsically eccentric but perfect ultra small hotel in a great location. The rooms are individually and perfectly furnished. The food is excellent, and aimed at a hearty appetite. Views from the windows are spectacular. The coastline is among the very best in Scotland. Not the hotel's fault, but it is a pity that several beaches near Arisaig have so many holiday caravans right up against the waterline.

Although this is a very popular and extremely well appointed hotel I visited for the restaurant.

As soon as you enter this lovely establishment you are made welcome by Dave the Patron and also the locals who may be in the bar.

A small village has plenty of gossip, which is great!

Cnoc na Faire is a great place to relax, enjoy a very good meal and meet biscuit the latest puppy in the village!

The menu was vvery good and the proof of this was how busy it was within 15 minutes of the kitchen opening .

All the staff have an enthusiasm and friendly nature which makes the experience one to remember and repeat.

I was up for a week and was here 3 days.

They even cater for weddings and Dave had just spent all morning painting every white stone in the garden to be perfect for the couple's big day--now thats attention to detail.

If I lived in the area then this would be my local and Im not surprised at how busy this venue is and also the number of great reviews it gets.

To Dave and the team, thanks for a wonderful time and see you next visit.

Colin

Room Tip: If the weather is nice sit outside and enjoy the amazing view out to the islands. Second tip-take...

A gorgeous hotel with modern rooms and views you will simply not be able to take your eyes off! We received a warm welcome and were shown to our room which has all the things you would expect from a top hotel and more. A book of local poetry, the film Local Hero (filmed on the local Camusdarach beach) to watch on the DVD player in your room, a wee dram for bedtime and a very comfy bed all made our stay special. Dinner was fabulous. You MUST have the home made sticky toffee pudding! Breakfast was in fine Scots style and really set us up for the day. We will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view across to the islands.

A really lovely wee hotel with stunning views over the nearby beach and out to the isles of Skye, Rum and Eigg. Staff are very friendly and attentive, the rooms very comfortable and well decorated, with excellent showers (a bit of a rarity in this part of the world), fluffy towels and comfy robes. There are lots of lovely little touches; each room has a book of poetry by a local poet, a hot water bottle for the winter nights, and a copy of 'Local Hero', a film shot in and around the local area, which you can watch on your in-room DVD player (if you can tear your eyes away from the view from the bedroom window - we couldn't). The restaurant menu is not extensive but uses good quality local ingredients that are very well-cooked and reasonably priced. A special mention goes to the incredibly generous portion of beautifully cooked scallops with black pudding - devine! All this topped off with a bedtime dram from the help-yourself decanter of whisky (but be sure to leave some for everyone else!) and a free lift to the station in the morning mean we'll definitely be back.
