“2 People, 4 Breakfasts!”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

We spotted Arisaig House and its fabulous location some years ago and have been meaning to give it a try ever since. Our only regret is that we didn't go sooner! However, had we gone too soon Sarah and her family and staff would not have been there to look after us and make us feel welcome. Arisaig House unlike many hotels is truly a place where one can just "hang out" without feeling obliged to do do anything in particular if it doesn't suit. The food and service is FANTASTIC and special mention must go to the quality of the breakfasts. My husband says (and he does travel) " that it is honestly the best cooked breakfast he has ever had". Go there and wonder whether the trainees of the Special Operations Executive during the 2nd World War made it through their silent killer training on as good a breakfast as we did! We really didn't want to come home!

Have just returned from a three day break at Arisaig House to celebrate my husbands 65th Birthday. And what a good choice of place.it was being like welcomed into a Grand Family Home with the most friendly, lovely people. It was a joy to have stayed there.
We flew by Helicopter from Inverness to arrive in Arisaig to glorious sunny weather, and landed on the lawn in front of the House to be met by smiling family members and lovely chilled champers!! Which we had on the terrace admiring the beautiful views. After which it was sheer bliss. We stayed in the Shiel Suite which was a lovely bright room with three sets of views, lovely fresh flowers from the Garden and Brodie Coffee, Tea etc. bedding was lovely, large Bathrrom with fluffy towels and nice toiletries. We had Dinner there two of the nights in the large wood panelled Dining Room which is beautifully adorned with paintings, fresh flowers again from their Garden and Candles giving it a nice calm ambience.the food was great, very well cooked with all local produce, the vegetables, salad etc again from their Garden.
Public Rooms are very relaxing, and the Bar is cosy with comfortable seating, beautiful views and real fire for colder weather, thus I find it difficult to comprehend the negative reviews a while back, they could not have been staying in the same place.!
Sarah who runs Arisaig House is a charming, friendly person who cannot do enough for her Guests, she is a great cook, and has the perfect personality as a Hostess.
I could really go on about this place but suggest you visit to really appreciate the beauty for yourselves and know u will have a wonderful time.

We stayed here for two nights, in a top floor suite, with amazing views over the gardens and coastline, with its ever changing weather. The stay did not start too auspiciously with Sarah forgetting our arrival at the train station, which necessitated a rather long, hot walk to the hotel, where it took a while to raise anyone - but it turned out she had got us muddled up with another couple arriving on the afternoon train... However, a large pot of tea and a restorative sojourn on the terrace whilst our bags were collected from the station and our room readied soon meant that we were back on an even keel.

The house itself is magnificent, and comfortable and spacious as you would expect from a house of this age and quality. Our room was huge, with a very comfortable bed and well-appointed en suite with shower and bath. The view from the second floor was even better than that from the terrace. We loved the yummy-smelling toiletries and the iPod dock! A tiny (pretty insignificant) disappointment was the little cartons of UHT milk, but fresh milk was cheerfully provided when we asked. The shower struggled a bit to keep a good water pressure.

We ate dinner at the hotel on both evenings, and were very impressed by the quality of the food - delicious lobster and mango rocket salad, venison, seasonal veggies, baked figs and amazing salted caramel ice cream, duck, and an awesome Scottish cheeseboard. Breakfasts were excellent too - porridge, kippers, duck eggs, dried fruit compote, plus all the usual suspects.

Sarah kindly took us to Arisaig to catch the Sheerwater for a day trip to the Isle of Eigg (which in itself was fab), although since it was such a beautiful evening on our return, we walked back along the coast and through the glen. This takes about 90 mins if you are strolling not hiking, and is wonderful - an undemanding walk and a real tonic.

Our bill was slightly awry (someone else's drinks added in error?!), and although soon sorted, probably indicates (combined with our walk from the station upon arrival) that admin might not be the hotel's focus. The price we paid (£165 per night for B&B, plus £24.50 pp for dinner each night), given the location and surroundings, is probably justified... Sarah also took us to Beasdale to catch the train back to Glasgow, and again apologised for the mix-up on arrival - but in the grand scheme of things, it really didn't matter - we had a wonderful stay and would gladly return. Thank you Sarah!

Review slightly overdue ....however we had the most wonderful wedding accommodation, where my guests were welcomed and given the most beautiful rooms....and also Sarah produced a fabulous evening dinner for my family who arrived at different times and yet nothing was any trouble.... I joined my family on the eve of the wedding in a fabulous suite . The staff made me feel like the lady of the manor when I walked down the staircase the day of our wedding where they were all lined up at the top of the stairs..... We were married on Camusdarach beach and then returned to Arisaig House for a fabulous wedding dinner and a really fun evening Ceildh where the staff and other guests joined us. We plan to return next year for a week and I can tell you that all our guests were completely blown away by the house and location... The 850 mile trip to Arisaig for our beautiful wedding day was 100% worth it...Thank you so much

This place is truly special and was the highlight of out trip to the Scottish Highlands, We first went here last year for two nights and were so enchanted we built this years' vacation around staying here. The house is a large stone manor on the sea with gorgeous guest rooms, library, living room and bar, wood pannelled dining room that serves impeccable breakfast and dinner (most nights) and a terrace that slopes down to manicured lawns , croquet court and sheep and cows off in the distances. The food comes from their own gardens and the eggs are from their own hens and ducks, Everything about this place speaks of careful loving touches and the attentiveness of the staff and the main person there, Sarah, was delightful and helpful in planning our day trips to Skye and other spots along the way.

Room Tip: We stayed in the suite was was huge, sumptuous and left nothing to chance. Great big bathtub with...

We were on our Honeymoon and on our way to Skye and we arrived at this wonderful House. Sarah gave us a real homely welcome and got us settled in. This is a gorgeous scottish country house with a beautiful garden and views to the loch. Sitting on the terrace as the sun is setting before going into the bar for a drink before dinner. What a lovely experience! Dinner was delicious and we slept like logs! Breakfast set us up for the day, we booked our ferry and then set off for Malaig. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful place. A little more expensive than the average Scottish B&B - but this is far far more than your average B&B, so treat yourself, you won't regret it for one moment. Tremendous best of Scottish food with fresh veggies from the gardens and local venison, salmon, etc. A world away from faceless corporate hotels. You are made to feel welcome and at home as if you were staying at a rather grand country home with some very friendly locals. Lots of lovely walks nearby through the woods, and down to pretty Arisaig. We did this holiday by train and bike which is easy, stress free and recommended (you get off at the Beasdale train station by request and it is an easy short cycle to Arisaig House) . We stayed in Linnhe which is a huge room with beautiful views over the lochs and mountains.

Room Tip: Linnhe is a beautiful room with loads of space and great views. Also has a huge bath and a shower wh...
