“Peaceful and great location ”
Reviewed September 3, 2017 for a stay in August 2017

My family of 4 plus my wife's parents have just returned from rose cottage and are already planning next yrs trip ! A nice cottage set on a in a group of cottages in farmland . The cottage was cosy and the bedrooms lovely , a nice size and dog friendly . Log fire also although being nice weather only used it once . DVD and video player with dvds etc onsite for kids to muse thru and watch . The pool was a hit with kids and went from shallow to two metres deep. The games barn was a bit run down to be honest but could be used on a rainy day . Wigtown was about a 15/20 min walk up road with shops and couple of bars , the location of cottage great , Newton Stewart about 10mile drive and garlieston a short drive other way . Sea fishing? That's my hobby so was spoilt rotten as 12 miles away Isle of Whithorn lies facing isle of Man, great sea fishing off rocks and caught plenty pollock and mackerel . Also head to burrowhead there for fishing off rock edges but be carefully as can be dangerous . So to round up, very nice host of cottages, peaceful location, cosy cottage and good value. Pool a plus but games room could maybe do with a new pool table . Bikes in barn also to use at your leisure. Can't wait to return !

“Lovely place to stay”

Our family had a wonderful week to celebrate my dads 70th birthday. Surrounded by beautiful walks and wildlife, close to Wigtown it's a wonderful location. Ian and hazel made us feel very welcome, and the children were able to help out feeding the lambs and had so much fun swimming in the pool everyday.

“A GREAT PLACE”
Reviewed May 30, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

The cottages are spacious, with an open fire and set in beautiful surroundings. The swimming pool was a great hit with the kids and the games room had plenty to offer.Wigtown is a good central base and we found a nice beach at Mossyard.Lastly,Hazel and Ian were very welcoming and nothing was a problem.Definitly booking another holiday at the cottages.

“Fabulous few days”
Reviewed October 16, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Great base to explore the area. Nothing too much trouble for Ian and Hazel. Farm was so tranquil and the kids had a great time playing in the park and barn. Free laundry facilities. Lots of information supplied. Great to have a coal fire at night, very cosy, cottage perfect for our needs.

“Rose Cottage”

I spent three nights at Rose Cottage recently. A charming, comfortable, three bedroom accomodation which iscomfortably furnished, well equipped and in keeping with the style of the building. On arrival, we were welcomed by Hazel who was in the process of bottle feeding three lambs, rejected by their mother. We got a chance to do the feeding the following night. What a joyful experience! Hens, rescued from a chicken farm, wander freely around the grounds along with a duck who apparently thinks he's a hen! There are calves, other lambs and horses in the land around the farmhouse and a flock of sheep on the hill. It was just like Old MacDonald's farm!
In the grounds, there's a sizeable indoor heated swimming pool, a pond, a playground for children and a playbarn. There are numerous DVDs, books and games. It was a wonderful weekend with welcoming hosts, Hazel and Ian. There are two one bedroom cottages, two with two bedrooms and one three bedroom, the one we stayed in. The real fire in the lounge made it cosy. I would recommend Courtyard Cottages if you enjoy country breaks with the option to visit the little towns on The Solway Coast. Dogs are also welcome so make a point of checking out this lovely holiday accomodation.
