Great food, great service and if you time it right, a great view out to Loch Ryan. Not a cheap place to eat but lovely for a special occasion or a little treat. Portion sizes have gone down in recent times ( smaller plates) but maybe this is not a bad thing.

Excellent service this evening.
Restaurant warm and cosy.
Mackerel pate lovely.
Risotto too rich for my taste (too much cream) but plenty fish in it.
Can now look forward to Christmas Eve meal.

On entry you take a seat in the lounge bar area which I actually like. The staff were friendly and atmosphere is great. You peruse the menu and order there before being shown to your table.

I had a seafood platter for one. It came with a monster plate of steamed vegetables which went out of fashion in the 80s. There were also chips provided(Scottish salad). It was a pretty average effort. Pickled herring, canned crabmeat mixed with mayonnaise, thawed frozen mini prawns.

The scallops were nice except that the dish was ruined by some sort of wasabi cauliflower purée and a crappy salad in the middle. It looked like a dish from the 80s also.

Please get a modern chef in to redesign the menu!

Family of 8 (5 adults and 3 children) went for a birthdsy meal.
Outstanding food and fantastic service.
The menu was excellent and my only regret is we only had 1 meal there, the seafood was especially good however there was a great range of traditional dishes for anyone not keen on fish.
