“Amazing place in an extreme setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2014

We had the great pleasure to stay 4 days from 1st January, in the Stevenson Suite. It is spacious, comfortable, very warm with superb views of the sea and surrounding countryside. It was an ideal base for touring, with some super walks in the area. The pleasure of fine dining in the restaurant was always a perfect end to the day with superb meals being freshly created and served by Kay and her team. Breakfast was always a joy with a hearty welcome from Sandra who always asked your plans for the day and would add her valued local knowledge to your trip. We salute Corsewall and thank you.

Room Tip: Depends if you want the convenience of a hotel room, or the privacy of the external suites, we liked...

The lighthouse was set in a beautiful and secluded area, along a single track road and past many fields of sheep and cows. As we drove along the last stretch, the views with the lighthouse in front were spectacular and we were lucky to make out Ireland on the horizon, with the occasional ferry crossing the waters.

Inside the building there were many trinkets and seafaring artefacts on display. It had a cosy and relaxed feel. The staff were friendly and allowed us to book in early, and even have a small lunch even though the kitchen was about to shut.

The rooms were of a decent size with a small TV, large desk, wardrobe and telephone. The décor was sympathetic to the style of the building however I felt it was dated. The room was clean and simple, and there were dressing gowns in the wardrobe. We had a balcony attached to our room which gave great views of the surrounding area, and of course the lighthouse - which was superb to watch as the sun set and the lights came on. However the view outside the window was not of the sea.

A negative point of this place was the shower. There was not enough power which meant finding the correct temperature was difficult. We did not bring this up with the management but I'm sure if we had they would have tried to help as much as they could.

A five course meal was included in the price of the stay. There was a good selection of food and was very tasty and great portion sizes. The ambience in the dining area was good - quite a small room but this made it feel more intimate. There was also a well stocked bar.

Breakfast was also very good with an ample selection of hot and cold foods. The scrambled egg and salmon was lovely.

We stayed in the North Channel Suite on 5th and 6th December and had our wedding in there. Family members stayed in other rooms and suites over the same dates, and we all have nothing but positive reviews to give.
All of the staff were fantastic and so accommodating, but special thanks must go to Sandra and Kay for everything they did for us.
The location is breathtaking and we could see Ailsa Craig in the distance, and even Northern Ireland. There are lots of nice walks to be had and we only wish we had more time.

The suite was clean, comfortable, and spacious and the conservatory area was a great location for us to set up for the wedding ceremony. The lighthouse can be seen from the suite and it's only a very short walk between the two.

The food in the restaurant was delicious for breakfast and for the main meals, and the room layout was perfect for our needs.

On our last day we were able to head up to the top of the lighthouse which was fun to do.

Overall we really could not have asked for more from our stay and we hope to return in the future so we're able to take in more of the hospitality and the views from around the lighthouse and the local area, which is full of points of interest.

Just returned from an idyllic two nights break at the Corsewall Lighthouse Hotel. My husband and I stayed in the Lighthouse Suite; it didn't disappoint. In fact it far exceeded our expectations and they were high because of the glowing reviews from previous guests. Everything was perfect and the location beyond my wildest dreams. Due to my limited mobility I chose the lighthouse suite for its panoramic views, knowing that we would spend 99% of the time in the accommodation. It was well appointed, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated to an exceptional standard. A special thanks to the housekeeper, who realised that we wouldn't be going out, and advanced the heating so that it stayed on. The warm welcome on arrival from Sandra, and Kay, for whom nothing was too much trouble, added to the overall enjoyment. We dined in the restaurant which was truly a restaurant and not just a room where food was served. Fresh flowers on ever table and also in the lounge and lobby. excellent food served with a smile, (thanks chef for indulging me!) We whiled away the days watching DVD's that we chose specially for the trip. Note the nautical theme: Rebecca, Jamaica Inn and a1947 film that I'd previously watched as a child and never forgotten ,' While I Live'. Robes in the wardrobe, pillows to die for and a comfortable bed. We loved it so much in the suite that we skipped the siesta, unwilling to surrender the spectacular views. On the day of departure we set the alarm for 06.30 so that we could watch the sun come up and the heavenly seascape unfold. Thanks to all the staff for the memories my husband and I will treasure xx

Room Tip: For the less mobile I would chose the Lighthouse Suite. The sea/landscape comes to you

The staff are the real gem to his hotel. You are warmly greeted when you arrive, given the VIP treatment at dinner service and treated to some of the most delicious food I've eaten by the chef. We were so stuffed we could barely move! Breakfast was also high quality. Room was very clean and comfortable, with a fantastic bed. Nice and warm, and not noisy at all. Would highly recommend this to any one looking for warm, friendly professional service, high quality meals and a good nights sleep!

Room Tip: Kintyre Room - great views!

We have just returned today from staying four nights in the Stephenson suite at Corsewall Lighthouse. What a heart warming experiance, my father who is a very active 98 years young says that he has never been to anywhere and treated with respect and made to feel more welcome, the staff could not do enough for any of us. The accommodation was superb I wanted to bring the bed home. All of the staff gave 5 star treatment with a friendliness that was absolutely genuine.
Thank-you to all at Corsewall for making this a wonderful break, and for being so wonderful to my dad, hopefully all three of us will be back for another wonderful time with you, and enjoying your excellent food.

Just back from a relaxing two night break at this beautifully located hotel. Stunning views, wonderful food and welcoming staff. The Loch Ryan Suite was well equipped for us and our two dogs (the dog towels were a nice touch), and the bed was one of the best I have slept in for a very long time.
