Definitely go for a sea view. You can see N. Ireland clearly day and night which I found fascinating. Bed was good, room clean although carpet and furniture had seen better days. Dinner menu was ok, food good, breakfast plentiful. Restaurant/breakfast room nice, bar was shabby. Staff were really good particularly the Irish lady who was fantastic ! We stayed 2 nights and want to go back sometime. Portpatrick is a romantic, little seaside place, quiet, warm and friendly and a great place to relax and wander.

Room Tip: Room on the front with a sea view is a must

this place is appalling and should close. I believe it is up for sale, and no wonder. It is freezing cold, smells of stale cooking all the time, and nothing works - not the staff, certainly not the lady in charge( if you can call it that) and definitely not the electrics which are scarily dodgy. Nice view - but one available elsewhere so don't go here!

We stayed for two nights recently having tried to book many times over the last few years. The staff were superb, the food fabulous and the surroundings warm clean and comfortable. Fabulous sea view too!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view, well worth a couple of quid!

Hotel was average, the room and view was good, breakfast was OK and prices were OK... but the unexpected pleasure of getting an Indian Head Massage and Reiki treatment made the trip worthwhile for my Sister In Law on our recent stay.

Room Tip: Room 4 is a good room with a good view.

Ate here whilst camping just up the road. The lounge and bar is a large room that overlooks the outdoor deck area and the lovely Portpatrick harbour below.
Although it was mid September it was a chilly evening so the roaring open fire was a welcome sight and helped provide a nice warm ambience.
The woman on bar duty was welcoming and cheerful and took our orders for food and drinks. The food order arrived reasonably quickly and was both generous in quantity and tasty too.
Plenty of choice on the menu including a couple of vegetarian choices. No cask ale on offer though.
Good value, well prepared pub grub served by friendly and helpful staff. Just what we were looking for.

Whilst on a long weekend in portpatrick we decided to try the mount Stewart after hearing mixed reviews from the locals. When we arrived the place was in need of a major update, staff were slowing in taking orders and running around like headless chickens no order at all. Big intervals inbetween courses and would find we had empty plates sitting for a while with staff walking by numerous times empty handed. Food was poor alothough portion sizes were good. We found prices to be expensive compared to other restraunts considering the standard of food. When recieving our tables bill we weren't charged for 2 items although we didn't mention to staff as it was due to their incompetence.

Looking for a late book in we found the hotel near the sea quite appealing from the outside.
After waiting for someone (reception was closed) a pleasant man (the barman) showed us to our room. It was quite roomy but outdated, the bathroom most of all, with shower screen broken and in need of a clean. The bed was comfortable and fresh which to us is very important.
The advertised cost per night on the notices outside said 30 pound a head, we were charged 40 pound each. No evening meals were available so we ate elsewhere.
Breakfast was prompt and adequate. Overall feel of the place was that it needed a revamp. With a revamp this lovely old building could rekindle its obvious charm and elegance.

Room Tip: A room with a view of the ocean are the best.
