Just taken the family to the Fernhill for a 3 day break. Used the 3 for 2 offer. The view from reception of Portpatrick Hatbour are just stunning. We were pleasantly surprised by the rooms. The staff were so friendly - all locals. We'll be back.

Wonderful hotel overlooking Portpatrick. Rooms were very clean and tidy and our rooms had terraces with great views. The staff, many of them young people, were absolutely superb throughout our stay and couldn't do enough for us. The welcome we received was very welcoming after a long journey. It was also an excellent base for playing golf on the 3 courses nearby.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the sea.

In all my 60 years this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The Hotel was clean and well maintained, the view from the room was simply fantastic and the room itself was spacious. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and professional. The food in the restaurant was fantastic and the service likewise. Needless to say we intend to go back. So if you are looking for a quality hotel while touring the lowlands of Scotland look no farther.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the bay

First ever trip to Port Patrick, stayed overnight in The Ferhill Hotel, what a fabulous time we had. The welcome to the hotel was friendly and warm, staff couldn,t do enough for you, from the free welcoming sherry, it was terrific. Hotel and bedrooms were extreemly clean and tidy, our superiour room complete with balcony was stunning, views were panoramic, large bed was very comfortable. Evening meal was superb, waiting staff very efficient. Breakfast delicious, with good choices. Will be back to stay again. Well Done To All Staff.

This is a lovely hotel, very clean and fresh decor with great views from the cliff top over the port. It has a very quiet, relaxing ambience throughout. Some may say lacking in atmosphere as there is nothing going on in the hotel, even the bar area is quiet and the dining room does not have any buzz during service.
But if you are looking for a quiet stay, then this is the place for you. The standard room was very well appointed, nicely decorated and had everything you would need for a short stay.
The food at dinner was good and both my wife and I enjoyed what we had. There was only a choice of 4 starters and 4 main courses which includes a vegetarian option.(not large portions but well cooked and presented) So a bit restricted in choice and certainly the chef is not going to be over stressed. The breakfast had a good choice and is served at your table which is far better than the usual buffet option at many hotels. The staff are very pleasant throughout.
All in all a very pleasant one night stay but I feel a bit over priced at £174.00 for a standard room DB&B. The 2 night offer is a much more realistic price at only about £60 dearer.
So if you are looking to chill out and enjoy Port Patrick then you could do worse than the Fernhill. If you are looking to let your hair down, you might want to try one of the hotels down at the waterside.

The Fernhill has a wonderful garden setting overlooking the sleepy picturesque harbour of Portpatrick in SW Scotland. The public rooms, esp the conservatory dining room are delightful and all have great views. Bedrooms are charming and very well appointed. Many visitors take the all-inclusive dinner bed & breakfast option which is very practical and convenient in this area. The food is excellent, creative, and uses local ingredients. All the staff are very welcoming and helpful. This is our second visit - on both occasions a great stopping off place en route to Ireland from nearby Cairnryan.
