Kennels Cottage Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #1 of 4 Dollar B&B and Inns
Reviewed August 25, 2007

I have stayed at Kennels Cottage a few times now, and always found it to be welcoming, comfortable, and a home away from home. As a frequest traveller sick of the impersonality of big hotels, Sandy and Tanya make their home yours during your stay, and no request is too large or too small for them. The rooms are incredibly comfortable, spotlessly clean, and the whole place reflects the style they must have picked up in their years in the Far East.

The cars are faboulous (I love the convertible bug!), there are great walks locally, nice pubs not too far away, and even the 2 labradors are incredibly friendly! All in all, a great place to stay, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

My second visit to Kennels Cottage. This year my visit coincided with T in the Park. I was caught for 4 hours on the Motor Way, thus making my arrival very late. On phoning I was told that someone would be there for me. On arrival, I was offered a beverage and or snack. The hospitality, as before, was excellent. The room very comfortable, and as it was a bit chilly the heating was available if required. I had a major spill on a garment, and Tanya offered to wash it which was beyond her brief.
As I enjoy fruit at breakfast the platter was abundant with a large variety artistically arranged. Coffee is generous too.
Yes there is a white carpet, and one is asked to remove out door shoes. This is a custom which a lot of Scots have, so I was not surprised.
There are a good mixture of reference books to use involving tours and walks in the area. There are also interesting DVDs to while away the evening if required, in the comfort of your room. There is a short walk by the cottage through a wooded lane, delightful before breakfast.
The cars are very interesting

and Peter still has a smile on his face after experencing a great birthday treat, in a beutiful part of Scotland exceptional B&B and the choice of Classical Cars to drive, what more could a man want! Tanya and Sandy were on hand to offer assistance with the trips,or information on the cars,
and the little extras like fresh flowers in the room, and a lift to the resturant, was very much appreciated by us both. We have already recommended this fantastic experience to all of our friends.

Immaculately clean room, bathroom, shared areas. Host very welcoming - yes she politely asked us to take off our shoes - but they have cream carpet ! Breakfast is comprehensive with some nice, interesting additional choices. We didn't book a car just came for the B&B but will go back and do the mini-tour on offer. Tanya and Sandy were very friendly and gave us their best advice on chicken-rearing. Would not hesitate to return.

Our experience was marred by the first 2 minutes. The site is below overhead high voltage cables, a (albeit classic) car lot and started with tapping on the window indicating we had parked in the wrong place followed by the intimidating RULE of removing shoes. It was clear we are in someones home rather than a hotel run on service principles. In fact it is an adjunct to a car hire business and perhaps works better in conjunction rather than as a b&b. That said the room, while small, was clean with a perfectly adequate en-suite. The TV was at a neck breaking ceiling height to due to the restrictions of the room itself. Breakfast was reasonable and, again, presented in clean surroundings. Not a great experience.
