We chose this rental based on the photos in the listing and the response from the management. The castle is beautiful and the management is very responsive. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by the local representative and given the "tour" of the apartment. As soon as we were alone we all looked at each other in disbelief. It was absoutely one of the highlights of the trip just staying at the apartment. The setting is very nice and quiet - really quiet, the apartment is very well appointed and extremely tidy. There is a wonderful entertainment center with movies in the cabinet and CDs for the stereo. WiFi is free and relatively easy to connect to (the key for wireless is under the router). The kitchen is very good with all the appliances and utensils / plates / glasses you'll need. Dollar is just down the road for a great meal (Campbell Castle Hotel) and the co-op will have everything you need to stock up for your stay. Our kids loved the place and complained we couldn't spend more time "hanging out". It's in a great spot for day trips around Scotland. Don't miss this opportunity to spoil yourself in this truly unique location; you won't be disappointed.

Our week long stay in the Ballroom Apartment of Dollarbeg Castle was everything we hoped for and more. The castle is in a beautiful, quiet country setting, yet conveniently located to the sights of Scotland including St. Andrews, Edinburgh, Loch Lomond, Loch Ness, the Falkirk Wheel, and Stirling. It is a short and lovely walk into the village of Dollar. From the beginning communication was easy and frequent. Upon our arrival we received a warm welcome, which included a beautiful welcome basket. The apartment is beautifully and fully furnished. It is both spacious and comfortable and comes with every amenity. We will definitely plan to return to Dollarbeg Castle on our next trip to Scotland.

The Ballroom apartment is aptly named as the main living area is very bright and spacious. It is tastefully decorated to a high spec and there are some interesting and well-chosen pictures, books, games and so on that give the place added interest and character. The apartment, on 2 floors, is set in an atmospheric castle and grounds. It was very peaceful and we hardly knew anyone else was there, but it felt very safe and secure too, to bring young children to (the front door key procedure is very secure). The kids loved the garden area and thought they were in a fairy story! We were free to walk around this and had a picnic (picnic hamper and gear provided) and even found a secret passageway. I think this apartment would be ideal for couples or families. It was very clean, tidy and well-equipped. Considering how high spec and luxurious the flat is, we felt that children were welcome - with travel cots, quality children's books and dvds and a toy old fashioned car that went down very well - and it was toddler safe as you are able to close the kitchen door and the door leading to the stairs and rest of the apartment. When the children went to bed we sat in the comfortable high backed chairs and looked out of the window at the wonderful Scottish countryside with a glass of wine. During our stay we explored the area including a nearby castle and large antiques fair at Stirling. We thoroughly enjoyed out stay there and highly recommend it.

What a way to brighten the winter. Luxurious accommodation with every need provided for and a delicious welcome hamper to switch on relaxation. About an hour by car to Edinburgh, Glasgow or St Andrews. The local town of Dollar provides an excellent butcher and delicatessen. Climbing to Castle Campbell is well worthwhile.

We are a family with two young children based in Australia who have travelled extensively, always choosing authentic accommodation unique to the region. We chose the Ballroom Apartment at Dollarbeg Castle as a base to explore Scotland for the first time. Sue was very helpful in arranging our stay for the week. Upon arrival, after our 27hr flight we were greeted at the door, shown into the apartment and surprised with a gourmet hamper and bottle of champagne!
From the moment we walked into the living room we were amazed at the size and quality of this apartment. The recent refurbishment has been sympathetic to the age of this castle while including every modern convenience, from the bespoke fully equipped kitchen to the claw foot bath, the perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing. There are original artworks, Aston Martin memorabilia, antiques, local tartan wool carpets, top quality linen, stereo with a large CD collection and large plasma for the kids.
When travelling we usually leave our accommodation early to fit as much into the day as possible, but here we would find ourselves by mid morning still sitting in the living room gazing out over the castle gardens across the rolling hills to the highlands in the distance. However over the week we were still able to visit many places from here including; Campbell Castle, Stirling Castle, William Wallace Monument, Glamis Castle, St Andrews and the Kingdom of Fife, Crathes Castle, Drum Castle, Edinburgh, Blair Castle, Inverness and Loch Ness.
This was a memorable stay and we would not hesitate in recommending The Ballroom Apartment at Dollarbeg Castle to anybody.
