“Terrible”
Reviewed March 13, 2012

My wife and I visited the The Inn at Muckhart this evening (Tuesday 13th March) as we had not been for some time i.e. a year or two. We both agreed that the food served was the worst we have ever tasted. There was no seasoning, the food was extremely bland and it was frozen food reheated.

We had:

Starters - Deep fried mushrooms and lentil soup
Mains - Chicken fillet in a tarragon sauce, macaroni cheese and chips.

The lentil soup was like a scotch broth without the broth mix, the mushrooms were so hard one flew off the plate as it was being cut.

The tarragon sauce had little taste of tarragon (which is a strong tasting herb), carrots were frozen carrots reheated. The macaroni cheese was bland and only the colour suggested there was cheese actually in the dish. Chips tasted like they were frozen and deep fried.

In summary we will never go back and will be advising others not to.

“Never disappointed .”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

My family and I have been eating here for over twenty years and we have yet to have a bad meal. There have been changes in ownership over the years but the good standard of food and service has been maintained. The food is good honest plain fare but cooked and presented well. The staff are always obliging and friendly. On a cold winters day the open fires make the place very cosy and make us reluctant to leave. We would thoroughly recommend the roast beef on Sundays and the fish any time. Arrive early on Sunday to ensure a table.

“Don't eat here”
Reviewed September 8, 2011

The food was dire, we think it had been kept warm for a long time. However they did not charge me for the main course because it was so bad that I could not eat it.
