We arrived at the hotel to be told it had been in administration for months. The new owners were able to offer us rooms but the quality of thses was poor. Althoug clean they were of a poor standard. Whoever thought that Paddy's Bar was a good idea needssadly deluded. This tatty dingy bar and diner were sub standard.

Hqving arrived day 2. On walking the WHW, We were driving wet, cold and hungry, before being allowed a key we had to fill out form and pa for room. That was after we had found there was no reception, you had to go to Paddys Bar, which was grimy and in bad taste, the room was disgusting , bets not made. Dirty bath, yuk yuk yuk, we had takeaway pizza from the garage which was lovely and the highlight of ou stay, breakfast, well the thin sliced white bread on offer was like cardboard and I checked the datevitcwas a month out of date, and had been frozen too long, glad to have left

Our stay here was terrible - as that's the only rating that comes near! The bedding was 'clean' but there were ink stains on the too-old duvet cover. There were airlocks in the plumbing so a huge 'hoot' every time you used any water. The wallpaper was peeling off, the shower decommissioned but still on the wall, many lights not working, the staff over-stretched, the decor unbelievably eccentric, to say the least. It should be advertised as a hostel, but it's missing the facilities that a hostel would offer - cooking facilities, camaraderie, a lounge or common room and there is only one spot where you get internet access... Truly, unbelievably awful!

Room Tip: If you value your time away from home, look further south or north - this would not rank as a holida...

Do not stay here. This is possibly the worst hotel in Scotland. The owners dont care about their guests and they do not clean the rooms. Our shower was covered in mould and the toilet was not clean. The single sheet on the bed had holes in it and the breakfast was disgusting. The pub next door (Paddy's) was equally dirty and poorly kept. It is not surprising that they make you pay in advance. Please take our advice and find somewhere else to stay.

Room Tip: Avoid completely.

As part of the West Highland Way we booked this hotel, as my husband had stayed here 3 years ago. We arrived and a globally challenged female with no personality whatsoever checked us in, asking for cash in advance. This should have set off the alarm bells. The room was disgusting. I don't think the decor has been updated since the 60's! There were holes in the walls, the curtains wetre hanging off the rail, the tv, didn't have a remote control and the carpet and bedspreads were stained. The bathroom was beyond belief...mould all over the tiles, yellow scum round the taps, the shower curtain was covered in mould and the shower was a mere drip! If we hadn't been walking and had a car, there is no way we'd have stayed here. Breakfast was a disaster, we basically made our own, with 2 loaves of bread and a toaster. At £66 for the night it was the worst accommodation by far I have ever had the misfortune to stay at.

Clean spacious room. Large bathroom with a bath (a rarity on the West Highland Way) and shower. Decor very tired but comfortable and warm. On the whole a bit shabby but OK for the price. Great fish and chips down the road at Real Food Cafe
