We booked a 5 day holiday with Highland Heritage, to this Hotel, the location was outstanding, we had a room at the front with views of the grounds. The room in question was clean, warm and up to date with decor. The hotel food was not to my liking as the quality was not consistent.

The coach tours were excellent plenty to see and do during our stay, and the driver was very pleasant and comical!

On the second day it snowed, and it was a beautiful scene outside our window, and on the last day it snowed that bad we thought the coaches would not make it out onto the road, but we were amazed when most of the staff were outside shovelling the snow away so all 4 coaches could leave

Visited the Ben Doran on the 3rd January for a 5 day break, and even though I ended up there as a solo passenger, WOW, what a great place, you couldn't ask for more, the Hotel was wonderful, staff at all levels excellent, and our driver Neil, great chap, nothing was too much trouble. Raymondo our day relief driver, was funny and so helpful, pity he lives in such a shabby caravan, must send you some curtains for the windows. The food was excellent, from the porridge, kippers and cooked breakfasts, to the superb meals in the evenings, it was better fayre here, than in some 1st class hotels. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. Best coach holiday I have been on for years, I would definitely go again and would recommend my friends. Thanks to everyone who was connected with this holiday, and give yourselves a pat on the back. Well done! Didn't really like the entertainment, but that was my personal choice. The trips out to Glen Coe, Oban and Fort William were great, and thanks for the wonderful concert, and the lovely cup of tea.

Room Tip: The restaurants and bar are on teh 3rd floor, I was on teh first floor, but I never really noticed w...

My husband and I stayed at the Ben Doran at New Year 13/14.
We were greeted by waving staff,a bit cheesy I thought, but many were delighted. The Manager also was there to greet guests. The staff then deliver suitcases to allocated rooms we were in room 2 on the ground floor. We had a premiere room,it was spacious, comfortable, and clean. There is a good hospitality tray, with little extras like hot chocolate, biscuits, and fresh fruit, the soft bath robes were very welcome.
Dinner on the first evening was preceded by complimentary sherry,a nice touch.Meals are quite good, there is a choice on all courses, however, meals are served at the same time each morning and evening, and all guests are served at the same time, something we have not come across before.New Years Eve dinner was very good, with the addition of an extra course,New Years day had brunch, rather than breakfast, served later, thankfully,as there were many sore heads!! The bubbly served soon put that right!
New Years Eve was very well done, after dinner, the Haggis was piped in,there were highland dancers, and,of course, the Piper. There was also a firework display in the gardens.
We had two trips included with our package. The Famous Grouse Experience, and Oban.the former was wonderful, informative, and in beautiful surroundings, the tasting was great too!
The latter was not so good.Being a holiday in Scotland,2nd January,is not a good day for a trip,as most places were closed, and we had far too much time to kill. However,I would like to return,to go on the ferry over to the Isle of Mull.
The Ben Doran is situated in a small village called Tyndrum. There are a few general stores, gift shops, and the local pub,all within easy walking distance of the hotel, there is also a very popular fish and chip shop, although,I can not comment on this as we didn't eat there.
The staff from the manager,Fraser,to the waiting staff, are all excellent, and very hard working.Nothing is too much trouble, and the go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Our driver,Joe,who originally hails from Slovakia, was great. He had an extensive knowledge of the area, and it's history, and made us laugh each day we were with him.
Only one bug bear, they lock the main doors at 11:45 each evening( not New Years Eve) which we found curious. However, there is nowhere in the village that would be open that late anyway, and the bar prices in the hotel are better than the local pub.
All in all,a nice break for new year, and good value for money.

We had lovely 5 days 4 nights trip to Ben Doran, had lovely time, staff friendly, room clean and warm, entertainment good, food good and plenty of it. Would recommend this although coach trip was 10 hours, it was worth it. Our tour guide/driver Frank was lovely, plenty of chat and knowledge of places we went to. Also stayed at Dalmally, that was equally as good.

My wife and I spent three great nights at the Ben Doran. We have never been made to feel so welcome. The staff are friendly, extremely good at their jobs and the hotel is lovely and clean, very warm and cozy. The food is good as is the entertainment. Also the bar was pretty good value for a captive audience. The very long journey was made more enjoyablee by John, our very friendly and funny driver.

There is only one point of concern (Mr. Cleaver please note), please stop the silly bus seat change every time we go out. Nobody on our bus wanted to change and it just causes inconvenience and confusion.

Other than that we will hopefully return in the spring.

Keep up the great work guys you seem to have a recipe for success !!
